After watching Tesla and Blue Origin it makes one wonder.
When will we be able to launch the space ship into further reaches outer space and return in the same ship.
Watching all but the cone nose destroyed seems a little off now. But I do get half the temperature of the sun so there is that.

Human exploration has been fruitful as a whole; hence why we aren't still hiding from lions in Africa. Why would space exploration be any different? Expanding our species outside of Earth can only be a good thing. It gives our species a chance to survive a global catastrophe.

Not to mention all the useful technology that inevitably comes with the R&D surrounding space exploration.

Yes there have been a few inventions due to the space program that have improved our lives but for the most part it has been a waste of money. Off some billionaire wants to use his money to go to space then that’s fine but Government financed space exploration needs to go away.

9094, I would be fine with government financed space exploration going away if/when the FAA gets out of the way of the private sector's space work. They've already delayed SpaceX's Starship program by a year due to the environmental review down in Boca Chica.

Nothing wrong the FAA making sure that SpaceX has their sh*t together but the drawn out bureaucratic nonsense they're dealing with right now is completely unacceptable.

I'm not a flat earth guy, but I don't believe we ever went to the moon in the first place.

NASA using warmed over, outdated technology from the space shuttle to try and go somewhere we've already been. Trying to relive their Apollo glory days. Way behind schedule and way over budget and it's only going to get worse.

Estimated to cost over 1 billion $ per launch. Musk is estimating 100 million $ per launch for the Starship, which was designed from the ground up and uses much newer technology. Government waste at its finest.

This is something that could be demonstrated right in front of your eyes. Unless you believe in a grand conspiracy coverup, this is about as definitive as it gets.

The moon will be a great stepping stone for future space exploration/colonization as well as an ideal testing ground for R&D. We need a base there and this is the first step towards achieving that goal.

Not lithium, huge amounts of Helium-3. Stuff works great in nuclear fusion reactors.

Plus we have plenty of lithium in the ocean.

Oh no! Not a billion dollars into the economy of high tech, high paying jobs. Especially not coming up with new, updated technology to replace the old worn out stuff. It's not like we use the cash as jet fuel.

I post this because he was a staunch supporter of space exploration, It was his belief in "star wars" that brought so many inventions that are common now. He was a great leader.

You're right, misread...economically feasible way of getting it out of the ocean...but why? We can pump oil in an economically feasible way today. There's nothing a lefty does that is economically feasible. They destroy and don't know how to rebuild what they broke.

Nuclear + EVs = cheaper transportation. Lithium is part of that equation.

Sorry, I misread the amount each launch is estimated to cost. The total project is estimated to run ~90 billion through 2025, with each launch estimated to be ~4.3 billion. If this was totally new technology maybe the cost could be justified, but much of whats being used is 20 year old technology from the space shuttle. This was nothing more than a government handout to Boeing, Lockheed and Northrop Grumman. Over budget and past deadline as is usually the case from these defense contractors. I'm all for space exploration but not for wasting tax payer dollars.
