I have mine loaded and sitting on top of the fridge. We had some flies get into the house and we have to kill them before the cat tries to rip down the walls.
For real Bug-A-Salt action I park my white pickup in my buddy’s yard when he lets the cows in every few weeks. I just walk around and around my truck blasting flies. Last time I killed over 200 in less than an hour. Had to wash the truck before I left. I go over there and I don’t know whether to shoot hogs, coyotes, or flies. The pigs are more satisfying; the coyotes more challenging. The flies are an unmitigated, hands-down hoot!!! I bought us both Bug-A-Salts a couple of years ago and they’re definitely the most bang for the buck! He’s already worn his out and bought a new one.
Dudes mine seems to annoy flies but it doesn't kill even at point blank range...what gives
Kosher salt kills much better than regular table salt
Yeah thats what I load with. I think I just have a bum unit. Its more of a fly annoyance than a fly death when mine hits them.
The funniest thing ever was when Grandpa could not get his work to work and guys kept yanking his chain telling him he had to turn of the safety and then he kept saying it was off.... and guys still kept telling him he had to take it off safe.
Dan: You have to hot water flush the salt hopper and let the water drain out the barrel, let it sit long enough to dry good, reload salt and see if that does not bring back it's power.

I will give that a try thanks!
I do have to say it was never effective even when new... I think I got a bad unit. It just never had much if any knock down power. I shot many point blank and it just seemed to annoy them and make them move. It never injured them really.
