Update fatal accident HWY 36N - 05/09/22 09:02 PM

Heading south on Hwy 36 this morning I saw a car in the middle of hwy. with hood folded over the windshield and a sheet covering the right front fender, a little farther( 100 yards) was a bloody body covered with a sheet, There was no other car that I could see just emergency vehicles. I just wondering if someone had any details It was bloody and the sheet did not cover all the gore on the highway,

Update: A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle this (Monday) morning near Sealy.

The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 36 at Peters San Felipe Road, approximately 3 miles north of the city.

According to DPS Sergeant Stephen Woodard, 95-year-old Mike Podaras of Sealy was walking westbound across the highway from Peters San Felipe Road when he was hit by a northbound 2018 Ford Escape, driven by an 18-year-old female from Sealy

Sounds like a vehicle vs. pedestrian deal.

RIP angel

Its a tough thing to see. I have been unlucky enough to have seen a few bodies of folks who went in a violent way... Its not something that you shake right away if you are not in that profession.

Makes you think for sure.

I'm not saying this is the girl's fault, but I am surprised more people and animals aren't run over. So many drivers can't be bothered keeping their eyes on the road because they are too busy with their phones.

Why is a 95 year old man out there walking across the highway?

So sorry to hear and feel for the young lady as well.

It happen on a state Hwy in front of my place last year-
The guy was 26, walking on the side of the road, but still in the road, I suppose he didn’t want to walk in the weeds, a lady hit him going 60+ mph-
Just a terrible thing to see and hear.
I don’t know if she was on her phone or not, but she certainly wasn’t watching the road in front of her.

Caught sight of a bear in the ditch yesterday on my way back from Rice Lake on hwy53 northbound.

Just before the hail hit when I was in the Schmitz's parking lot in Spooner.
About $4,500 damage, it looks like a golf ball all dimpled up like that.

There were no "Bear Crossing" signs posted.

Or "Hail falling area" signs posted.

Prayers up for the victim . . . . life is full of surprises . . . . .
