Border Presence on Falcon Lake - 01/13/22 08:48 PM
Went to Falcon last Thur. for 5 days. On the 31 mile strech of Hwy 83 between Zapata and Falcon State park there are 10 Texas State Troopers positioned about one car every 3 miles. Just sitting in the car hang'in out as far I could tell. Wished I would have stopped and visited with them to find out what their specific mission down there was, but hey, there was Big Bass to be caught so we just kept truck'in.
No dummy cars, there was a live Trooper in each vechicle . Looks like they were all staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Zapata when not on duty. Also saw one group of National Guard troops set up on a small rise overlooking the lake near the State Park launch. Never did see the State twin engine gun boat.

Is there a fishing report to go along with this?

Hardly any water or brush in the lake. Launching off the dirt/gravel banks. Weather sucked! Cold & strong North wind ( none of it forecasted).
My biggest was a 5.82. Pardners caught a 7.53 and the other caught a 7.46. We caught several 3 & 4's each but overall it was tough fishing.
Fish caught on large rocks near Falcon State Park in 4 to 10 feet of water.

If that is tough fishing then I need to go down there when it is good.

Pretty sure these two dudes followed me at high speed in a gold Cadillac with tinted windows back to Falcon Heights from the grocery store in Roma.

2014 trip, got checked at the ramp, once in buddy's boat, and once in kayak. They were on point every day.
