Places near Fork to stay.... - 09/10/21 04:37 PM

Im headed to Fork with my son to go Crappie Fishing on the 19th. Guess some big Bass thing going on so I can't find a place to stay for the 18th for me and my 10 year old son. Where is relativly close by that you would stay at. It's only 1.5 hours from my house I just thought we would make an overnight trip out of it.

It's probably too hot still, but if it's just you two guys, you can always camp at Chaney Point RV campground. It's nice and shaded.

When I took my kids we stayed at Popes cabins, nice enough and right on the water.

Try Lake Fork Resorts. Most of the bass guys don't go there because they are bassholes.

BTW - this time of year, I would start in the timber that is right out in front or the resort near the boat lanes and then would head towards the 515 bridge. Find the channels in 30 - 40 foot of water and look for them suspending.

If it’s the big bass splash weekend McKinney will be about as close as you will get.

That’s a nice gesture…a real friend would have Scott evict someone in order to accommodate the Spagnola group.

Tell Jordan I said 'Hi'. He will know me as Ron/LiftSaver.

And yes, Jordan will put you on some crappie and some big uns too.

Depending on where you are meeting on Fork this is a good idea.

Man, Lake Fork will be an absolute zoo during all three days of the Sealy Big Bass Tournament! Ramps are crowded, roads jammed, and every known honey hole will have 20-30 boats on it.
I know you're going crappie fishing, but still....... bang
Good luck buddy!

Maybe I should convince him to go to Lavon or Pines

We shared a lake property for many years and yeah the Sealy tournament is not the weekend to plan a trip on that lake. Everything will be crazy crowded. You might consider Cedar Creek for crappie or sandies/hybrids. It is a pretty easy drive early AM.

Wise choice imo. I’ll stay away from there that weekend as well.
