Cinco de Mayo

Posted By: Patriot7Six

Cinco de Mayo - 05/05/21 01:03 PM

Time to come unhinged for tacos and margaritas. I'm still bitter about COVID robbing us of this last year when it fell on taco Tuesday so going to have to double down this year banana

Any day we can celebrate the defeat of the French is OK in my books, anyone else going to partake?

Re: Cinco de Mayo - 05/05/21 03:03 PM

Real history of it. In the 1800's Mexicans developed an overpowering taste for mayonnaise. It was only available from Hellman's in England, and they could not ship it fast enough so devoted an entire cargo ship for the purpose. All of Mexico was ecstatic upon hearing of this good fortune. Enroute the ship struck a reef off the coast and sunk on May 5th. All Mexicans were devastated upon learning of the tragedy and from that day forward remembered May 5th as the date of Sinka de Mayo. Yeah, I know - C+ at the best.

I don't see too many mexicans celebrate down here. It's usually just white people who need an excuse to get hammered. Just a normal day of getting hammered for most other San Antonians.

I got a wrong number call from someone in Coahuila a couple of hours ago and wished them a happy Cinco de Mayo. I never could understand their reply but they seemed pretty happy (truth is they could have been telling me that my auto warranty expired but my spanish is very limited).

Give them a call, 52 871-269-4152

I’m 100% white. I’m not Spanish. I’m not Mexican. I’m just a plain American white guy that loves the hell out of Mexican food, tequila, jalapeños, and all that stuff. You’re missing out. I don’t like the boots some of those fellas wear. But, they knocked it out of the park on some of this stuff.

Yep. Im not a fan of strong tasting beers. Its like a Coors light, refreshing to drink. To me anyways. We always called them "bluegills" back home. Its either that, or some Jim Beam Devils Cut over ice. cheers

True enough but Americans do like a party . 5/5 is a nice intermission between St. Patrick's and Memorial day .

People were our in full force at the Mexican resturants in Pearland and Friendswood yesterday. Cops even had a few that started early on the ground. Traffic was really bad people trying to get off work so they could get hammered.

I'm sure someone stabbed their borther in law before the night was over.

I lived in South Texas for many years before I moved to Houston area. Corpus Christi tried to hide Cinco de drinko day with something called Bay Fest which ran the first week in May as I recall. This week pretty much turned out to be a good excuse for some of the local population to get hammered, pull out their knives and stab others hangin out on the Bay Front to party in the back and run off. Lots of poeple got stabbed over the years. Watching the news that week was quite interesting.

Listening to two guys talk last week about a latino woman that was severely PO'd at one of the guys she had a thing with, "she may not kill you in your sleep but she'll stab you until you wake up".
