Vacation ideas - 05/04/21 06:06 PM

anyone got any fun places you like to visit for vacation? Was thinking about Peacock Bass fishing in florida but thats prolly not gonna work out. last year we took the boat and stayed at a VRBO on cedar creek. Was OK. Just OK.
Two years before stayed in a VRBO on the white river and hired a guide. Great time, Been twice now. Looking for something different. Any ideas?

Close by/relatively close by?

Broken Bow is a beautiful lake, or Lake Hamilton in AR near Hot Springs.

Texoma. Might be able to hook up with a Striper guide up there, one of my favorite “local” lakes.

St. Bart's if you can fly.

Ruidoso NM if you need to drive.

Every person should at least try and go Tarpon fishing around the Rat's Mouth area.

I imagine PK looks like chocolate milk right now, but there's some nice places to VRBO off 2951 and you've got boat ramps and places to eat and drink pretty close if you're not wanting to cook.

We've been going up to Table Rock/Bull Shoals once a year for probably the past 8 or so years to visit my wife's cousin's family. We usually rent a house on the lake and the kids run around and swim. This year some friends are also coming so we're staying at some Marina/Condo. We rent a pontoon, I pulled a bass boat up there once and vowed to never pull another boat around that part of the country if I can help it.

The same friends and us have been throwing around doing something at Lake Murray, but haven't pulled the trigger. Another really nice lake not too far away.

I think everyone should go visit Yellowstone once in their life. When you enter there it seems you have entered into another world. Some of the sites there are breath-taken.

Do they have good deals at those stores, or is Total Wine and Spirits better?

Re: Vacation ideas - 05/04/21 07:23 PM

broken bow cabins, trout fish the river and smallmouth etc. in the lake.

eat at shuck me. rent a canoe and float/fish the river (very easy float with some great trout fishing when I went).

2nd option, derek's house and watch the bees make honey and help him in his garden. take some extra natties for a real good time.

That would take a few days to actually hit every liquor store. If you stop by my house, I will drive you to the Costco in Rockwall where you can go in without a mask. I'll wait outside.

Summertime—escape the heat maybe Elephant Butte Reservoir NM

Mid to late fall—Venice, LA for bull reds, flounder, everything

Winter—Big Bend

Depending on the time of year, Big Bend NP is amazing. Blazing hot in the Summer though.

I have always wanted to make this trip, but haven't had the chance https://www.chandeleur-islander.com/

We been going to Crystal Springs Resort for years. I always rent pontoon for my family, and I pull my boat behind it to fish. Get a lake front cabin.

That looks freakin awesome. I checked them out. only downside is the restaraunt is only serving to go, curbside or delivery. What cabin do yall enjoy? Do you rent a guide? ive never caught a walleye. Striper fishing looks good.

We always take our own food, do our own cooking. We stay in the "Lake Front" cabins, just a better view of the lake. There are 6, and we always try and get 1 closest to the restaurant, just because that is the direction you need to walk to get down to the marina. So cabin 1 is the closest, cabin 6 is the furthest on the end. But what is bad with cabin 1, everyone walks thru your balcony to get to the marina, so if you got cabin #6 on the end, you got more privacy. You can ask which is the nicest, so that maybe the one you want.

The striper's are huge! Pic below is 2005 I used a guide, I got my limit in pretty short order, and they were all huge, 6 was the limit back then. Not sure if that guide is there any more, but if you call the resort, they have guides they will recommend, and that is probably your best referral. Ask for Donna, she has been there forever, and she will tell you the who the best guides are...

Bluegills are huge, you can fish right off the docks, this is my daughter 2006.
