Cancel Culture...Latest Casualty - 01/11/21 07:54 PM

Mike Milbury got his head chopped off by NBC Sports, and afternoon 14 years, will no longer cover NHL games for the network due to his horrible (horrible and insensitive) comment regarding the NHL bubble.

"If you think about it, it's a terrific environment with regard to -- if you enjoy playing and enjoy being with your teammates for long periods of time, it's a perfect place," Boucher said.

"Not even any woman here to disrupt your concentration," Milbury responded.

Anyone remember Jimmie Kimmel in The Man Show”? I thought it was funny, but a long way from politically correct.

Yeesh, 99% of all males have made that joke or similar. Probably 99% of women also.
Oh, he said it on a Disney/ESPN associated network. Makes sense. They probably went back and tallied up all his jokes and comments over the years.

Its just in fun... I think

Re: Cancel Culture...Latest Casualty - 01/11/21 10:33 PM

Most here should remember quite a while ago there was a huge boycott of gas for a day when prices got to crazy. I'm sure if there could be an organized boycott of all tech for a couple days it would change some minds. I know business need tech and all that but if a huge majority just quit using social media and didn't watch TV for 2 days it would make an impact. Even longer would be all the better

I’d encourage you all to look for and encourage the good in the world.
Complaining about the world’s faults and troubles is easy, but it’s counter productive.

Seek the positive, have a confident, optimistic outlook and good things will happen in your life and for others.

I wake up every day and try and say at least 20 offensive things.

A fine stretch goal. I aspire to commit at least three microaggressions each day. The Nextdoor app is an excellent vehicle for this, but you have to be somewhat subtle or risk getting banished.

May I suggest a prayer of peace and prosperity before brushing your teeth.
If you must say at least 20 offensive things, try whittling that down to 19, then 18 the following day, eventually getting to zero negative outbursts. You and your loved ones will then have more joy in their hearts.

Several commentators wondered on air how the NBA bubble would work for the exact same reason. I don’t remember any of them getting suspended or fired. I could be wrong.

It’s no secret young, wealthy athletes spend a lot of time chasing women. In fact, the NBA bubble had some issues with women being snuck in, or players breaking the rules and going off campus. One player had to quarantine because he went to a strip club when he was supposed to be in the bubble.

It’s UNBELIEVABLE how it’s changed in education. A kid can look you in the face and mother F you and nothing is done about it. Then if you tell a kid to pull his pants up because you don’t want to see his underwear, you’re written up by the principal. Yeah that happened. I know people give teachers hell on here but you’d be wide eyed if you see the chit they HAVE to put up with daily.
