I believe the Cows take this one but Philly allows the Skins a disappointing win!

Looks like Dalton brought his A game and is giving 110%. Maybe he needs to dial in his arm on the sidelines a bit between possessions.

You know what I hate about Dalton? He has a bad play or misses a throw and he smiles....football games are won by angry men....

And the Dallas defense has several gutless DB's afraid of contact....hate them too

Rodgers seems like the ultimate prick and rarely smiles, so maybe there’s something to this.

Yep. Got idiot Lewis out there getting dumb penalties abd laughing about it. Moore has totally ignored getting TEs involved. Dalton can't make a 5yd throw, holding ball too long and looks like an undrafted backup QB panicking..

Typical cowboys game from last decade. Got something to play for even though undeserved and don’t show up!! It’s amazing how this team never shows up when there is something on the line!!

It’s amazing to me how they continue to be that way year after year. They don’t deserve playoffs but have chance at it and instead of playing like it they flat and without emotion just like when clapper was here. Goes to show it wasn’t just clapper but players as well.

A core group of underperformers are still here after Garrett. Hopefully McCarthy culls them out over this off-season.

Re: Official: Dallas Cowboys vs NY Giants - 01/03/21 09:21 PM

O-line and defense needs tons of work this off season. I like Dak, I want Dak as qb but price is too steep at 40 mil a yr. He needs to look at Brady when he was Patriot and take less to keep good players around to win. Bottom line a winning qb in Dallas makes tons in endorsements and he’s already making plenty. Fire agent and do what’s right for team and future.

This would have been the difference in the game. McCarthy lost this game. Nobody else but McCarthy.

I do agree, his decision making was opposite every other game this year.

We owe him thanks. This team, this season, needed to be euthanized.

You guys are funny, how did you expect the team to play after losing all offensive linemen, then Dak, then Dalton to a concussion and then covid, come on man !! Give it a break on Dalton, he and Dak are not that far apart, hell Dak was really 0-4, Atlanta gave them that game. The overall record would not have been much different with Dak as the starter, maybe they would have made the playoffs, they may have made the playoffs had Dalton not missed 2-3 games too. Give me Dalton all day with this offense and a great defense versus Dak with this offense and no defense. Maybe they will get some some studs on defense, just not sure how they are going to be able to afford them.

They spit the bit most of the year plain and simple. Every team has injuries and several were hit harder than Dallas by them. They don't get a mulligan on this season. They should have handily won the NFC East. Should have had it put away a month ago. Every single NFC East team started multiple QBs this year. McCarthy bears a lot of blame.

I went to HEB after the game. I normally listen to The Ticket but on the weekends I listen to The Fan. I heard an interview with Jaylon Smith that is the epitome of this team and HIM. He’s delusional is my 1st thought. It went like this, “ Jaylon, do you think you’ll be back next season”? 3 seconds of silence and shocked , as if he were a 10 All-Pro being asked such a ridiculous question. Then responded “me?”. “Anyone that knows football can put in the tape, watch me and see for themselves”. “I’m my biggest critic and I’m my biggest fan, just put in the tape”. That dude is DELUSIONAL, led the team in tackles but all the tackles were 7-12 yards downfield and he THINKS he’s a player, he’s the weakest part of the weakest chittiest defense in the NFL.

Trade Dac and Elliott. Free up a lot of cap money, maybe make a move up in the draft picks.

You gotta sign Dak to trade him. I doubt anyone trades for Zeke with his salary.

But my ONE question that I have for the Dak haters is he missed 11 games this year and I think the cowboys were 2-3 and averaging close to 40 points when he was injured. I may be off a game or a couple of points but I’m close. But the question is HOW IN THE HELL DOES DAK GET THE BLAME FOR THIS CHITTY SEASON. I’ll hang up and listen.

There is not a team in the NFL that lost all O linemen and the QB, then the back up QB for 3 games. Several hit harder than Dallas, really ? name them. You been against Dalton from day 1, no matter what he did you criticized him, bottom line is he and Dak are almost identical for their first 4 years in the NFL and Dalton played for Cinci. And had they won the NFC East, what would that have done for them ? Lose first game and get a 20 something draft pick ? My opinion is this team does not have a great QB, until they get one they will be mediocre, in and out of the playoffs 50 % of the time, may get close to an NFC title game but will not ever make it to the SB. jmho

Philly and SF both lost a ton of linemen. Philly probably more than Dallas.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/injured-reserve/

I was bored one day and looked up career stats for Dalton as well as to see where Cincy offense and defense was rated. He was on some decent teams. You make it sound like he was on really bad teams. He was not. Had some playoff years. He went one and done mostly those years. I was a fan of the Dalton signing until I saw him play here. Not terribly impressed for a 10 year vet with tge weapons he had here. I saw a huge dropoff in offensive production when Dak went out. Nationally the same thing is being said. He is not the Dalton of old.

Dak was 1-3 and should have been 0-4, Dak scored most of his yards and points in the second half of games when the other team was in a prevent style defense, they were protecting a 14 - 21 point lead. Dak is a good QB, no way in hell this team wins if they pay Dak 40M a year, they will not be able to sign good defensive players and could very well lose some players on offense. I will hang up and listen to how you are going to make this work coach.

IMO that is about what Dak is worth to this team, a very good QB but not close to elite, cannot help that other teams over paid their QB's, Cowboys overpaid Zeke too, I don't think it will kill them but they could get by with some other running backs, none the less i am happy they have Zeke, he will be a very solid back for awhile.

Wentz was one of two offensive starters (Kelce, the center, was the other) that played every game until Wentz got benched. They were moving OL pieces around to positions they don’t normally play all year and using practice squad players all year. Receivers and TEs were hurt or DNP throughout the season.

Yes, the Eagles, particularly the OL, was injured the entire season. On top of that, the receivers and RB are not nearly on the same tier as the Cowboys’ are.

If he is so great then the Cowboys should be able to get at least a first round pick for him, you think the Jags or Jets would do that ? Not in a million years, they will take the top two QB's and be happy about it. What if Rodgers, Wilson, Allen, Mahomes, were on the trade block, both those teams would break their necks trying to make that trade. If Dak is so great then the Cowboys should be able to trade him for premium picks, its not happening, nobody would give up a lot for Dak, that should tell you just how great he is.

They think he is their franchise QB and future. Why would they trade him? The fact tgat Moore just signed an extension solidifies that Dak will be here a long time.

If Dak is healthy I think he's the QB no matter what gets paid, don't really see a draft prospect this year

Re: Official: Dallas Cowboys vs NY Giants - 01/04/21 04:17 AM

We aren’t going to decide on here if Dak’s The QB or not, but he will be the QB for the Cowboys for a while and I’m glad he will be. Anyone who thinks he shouldn’t be just has a problem with him being the QB, why? I have no clue but it’s been fun debating the situation. If you don’t like him maybe find a new team because he’s the future of the Cowboys for the next at least 5-7 years. No hard feelings for anyone who doesn’t agree with me, I’m just trying to stay alive and avoid Covid. Best of health to all of you.

This team needs to start over and rebuild. Not enough talent to be competitive and not enough young talent to be competitive anytime soon. Trade veterans for younger talent and bottom out for a couple years to get high picks. Let Zeke and Dak go.

If your goal is to be between 6-10 and 8-8 again next year just like they've done for most of the past 2 decades, then by all means sign Dak and Zeke and keep the old folks around.

Unless Jerry dies, this team is going to continue to stink. He won't let them improve - his ego is forever in the way.

Unless Jerry dies, this team is going to continue to stink. He won't let them improve - his ego is forever in the way.

Zeke is signed for at least 2 more years for whatever that's worth.

I'm not in favor of Dak getting a huge >$35M/yr contract but he probably will unless S. Jones gets creative .

Can't wholesale trade vets. Select 2-3 maybe but if they're valuable enough to trade they're valuable enough to keep. And too many teams can just get that select talent through free agency instead of trading their more highly valued draft picks. Like I say you may can turn a couple of vets but which ones would that be? Can't trade Zeke ... there's no value for other teams. La'el Collins ... just resigned him and he's coming into his own (2019 pro bowler)? Zack Martin? Tight ends?

I understand people thinking this team should wholesale change personnel but it is a slippery slope. I think the bigger issue is poor coaching.

For sure the defense needs more talent via the draft and we should get it. We have 10 picks and should pick 10th

I don't disagree with anything you said. I think Dak gets signed at a silly number, and they're not going to trade all the vets. Most of them are signed to bad contracts that make their trade value very low anyway. My point was just to get rid of talent that's making your draft picks worse and not helping you win a super bowl.

Cutting Zeke and taking the cap hit is better than continuing to pay him for poor production. JMHO, but I thought from the start that contract was a horrible idea - they always should have let him play out his rookie deal and then moved on. I'm fine with moving on from Martin, if you get a deal worth taking. They will not win a SB during his prime here in Dallas.

I do agree that coaching is a huge part of the problem. It appears McCarthy wasn't the answer...but again, this team needs a Parcells type IMHO, and Jerry isn't going to hire another guy that wants to shop for the groceries and cook dinner too.

Thats an easy one. SF, NO , Denver, Cincinnati, Jacksonville and Washington. Denver even played 1 gane without any QBs.

Not going to look that up but you are telling me that all these teams had 4 different QB's start football games ? And the ones that had no QB's lost all 4 ? I am calling bs on that.

I read your post as sticking up for Dalton and the injuries to the OL. Now you’re talking about how many QBs the Cowboys went through. I don’t understand. Also, QB3 in the game for Philly.

LOL, they were heavily criticized for putting the 3 rd QB in behind by 3 points in the 4 th quarter, and they did not lose Wentz to injury.

Philly tanked in the 4th quarter. There is no other reason for putting that guy in. That was a middle finger to the giants lol

The Giants have no argument. They were 6-10 and scored three touchdowns in the month of December. Why does anyone think the Eagles hate the Giants anymore than they hate the WFT, who made the playoffs because of last night’s outcome. It was about draft position, not screwing over the Giants.

I think given the opportunity the iggles act badly and they had the opportunity.

Eagles coach lost the game on purpose, and that pass from hurts to a wide open receiver in the end zone was not even close to being on target... pressure or no pressure that’s a pass he makes 99 percent of time unless he was told do not score here. You could look at the offensive lineman on the bench and know exactly what was happening. Especially when the 3rd stringer was out in... hell I think he was even surprised. Coach saying prior to game we play the game to win was complete nonsense. But, they do have picks at spot 6 now instead of 9.

All had at least 3 QBs start a game this year. Cowboys did not lose 3 QBs to injury/COVID. Only 2. Same as many of those teams listed. You can call BS all you want, facts are facts. Several teams started 3 QBs this season. Washington played 4 QBs this year and won the division.

3 is not 4, also how many of those games were won ? Just curious since they cannot use it as an excuse.

Washington started 4 and are in the playoffs. You are counting the Cowboys as starting 4 due to injury but that is not true. DiNucci was benched and Gilbdrt started because DiNucci was horrible. Cowboys and the teams listed started at least 3 QBs this year. Cowboys were not alone in the injury department.

How many games were won by the non starting QB's , I know Dalton won 4 or 5, not sure about all the others, bet it was not many w's. The Cowboys were devastated by injuries, anyone who would say anything different is just a hater or trying to be argumentative. You cannot lose your franchise QB and 4 starting tackles and a guard and think you are going to be very successful, that does not count all the defensive injuries. Let me ask you this, had the Cowboys remained healthy what do you think their record would have been ? I think they would have run away with the division, at least 4 more wins, if not then this team is in way worse shape than I thought.

I thought they did OK considering their injuries and where the injuries occurred. Sure it costs them games especially to teams with strong defensive front 7's. I think just as big a factor was the defensive scheme and the lack of training camp and pre-season games. If this team had a strong D they'd have won 4-5 more games I think.

What I think Mark is alluding to is he doesn't like the "injury" excuse. I don't either. Insufficient coaching just compounds the injury problem.

Now, it did not finish up like this....but here's the professional perspective of two NFL player/commentators on picking a QB and walking away from Dak.....much like I said, and believed, you can't just ignore rookie talent...

6th pick, 9th pick, 7th pick, 10th pick there’s not that big of a difference in talent.

Re: Official: Dallas Cowboys vs NY Giants - 01/06/21 03:41 AM

The eagles are seriously screwed....so that's good. They are 70 million dollars over the cap with wentz or not...and they're old.

Re: Official: Dallas Cowboys vs NY Giants - 01/06/21 01:58 PM

There could be 4 QB's taken inside the top 10, Cowboys should be able to get either the top CB, LB, or defensive linemen in the draft, they will pick at the top end of every round plus they have like 3 or 4 extra picks, really no reason why they cannot give the defense a big boost. And yes the Eagles are in deep doo doo, Jerry used to mortgage the Cowboys future by extending contracts on players who never finished out the contract, sooner or later its time to pay the piper, at least the Cowboys are not in cap hell, paying Dak is going to squeeze them pretty tight but they do not have a lot of options there.

Dalton did not play very well, I bet that mangled hand did not help him out any either, much like Lamb dropping a possible TD pass near the end of the game. The experts claim Dak is 1 1/2 games better than Dalton so had Dak not been injured it looks like the Boys would be in the play offs with a 7-9 or 8-8 record, wooohooo !! Like Parcells said, you have to make the tournament in order to accomplish your goal, or something like that.

Didn't the hand happen late in game?

Yes I think the 4 th quarter, he did not play well and frankly I am happy about it, winning that game would have been meaningless even had they won the division.

CD dropped one late as he streaked across the middle at about the 6 where he likely scores.....Gallup dropped a TD..... and Dalton was sacked 6 times.....remember Dak in Atlanta that time? How'd he look during and after that game? Dalton came out ice cold but settled down enough to have a chance to win given some help.....he ran hard too and gave his team a chance.

You must be mistaken, Dak has never held the ball too long, missed wide open receivers, took sacks, etc, I don't know which games you been watching. grin

Dak is going to get McCarthy fired also. Not that he needs any help with that, but Dak can’t beat good teams. He disappears in big games. Falls behind then starts playing better when the defense goes into prevent or non pressure schemes.
