iPhone vs any android device - 12/17/20 02:32 AM

Bought my bride an LG G8 recently and she loves it, I myself have the 11 and still a huge apple format-fan............

What do you prefer and why?

Apple, but I don’t use it like some people do, just calls, text and email. My wife is constantly having issues with her droid

Android....not a fan of Apple. When they first came out the reception was pitiful compared to my Note, so I have just stuck with Samsung.

EFF Apple and their proprietary OS, I love my Galaxy S20 and the options available on the android platform. There are also several more budget friendly alternatives as well.

Two iPhones and two iPads in our house. I like the system and am comfortable with the devices. I see no reason to change.

Android. Apple is too restrictive.

Android. Started with an Android tgen after a few years decided to try Apple. Needless to say I had it 3 days, disliked it and gave it to my daughter. Bought another Android and will probably never switch again.

I think the platform you start with plays a huge role in what you prefer.

Platform? Haha. I started with a Nokia bag phone and went to a Nextel, then an Alpine. That was shortly after having a fancy touch tone that stored 4 phone numbers on presets. I learned to DIAL any phone number using only the number 0 and moving it just far enough around to make the different “numbers”.

I have worked in tech for 33 years , use to live within 2 miles of the new Apple building .
I support some of the companies products that are used in the Apple iPhones , iPads and Mac's .
The only way Samsung can compete is to " out feature " the Apple iPhones and try to convince people it has better options --- which might be true .
But when it comes to engineering quality , and reliability ---- NOT ONE phone maker can compete with Apple .
When it comes to being a supplier to an iPhone , way harder to get designed in with Apple than it does for Samsung or any other droid based phone .

Iphones, a couple imacs, a couple macbooks and an Ipad.

No reason other than they are just easy to operate.
My 10 year old imac I use daily here can still be powered on and up and running within 2 minutes. Plus I have virus protection but its been so long since I've used it that I can't remember its name without looking.

I can’t stand and don’t trust any of them; if I had things my way we’d all go back to dumb clamshell phones.

Have no complaints about my android especially since work pays for it. Wouldn't mind an upgrade though.

I used to be an Android geek as I hated being locked down...well after my Android products started having a ton of issues and I kept getting hacked while using my tablet, I made the move to Apple. Issues have easily decreased and I have only had one scare of being hacked since.

Re: iPhone vs any android device - 12/17/20 03:36 PM

I went from Blackberry to IPhone about ten years ago. I bought an iPad around the same time. That’s all I’ve had, other than work laptops, for a decade. My wife’s first smartphone about ten years ago was a Samsung. She switched to iPhone about five years ago and won’t go back. I like the messaging on iPhone better when texting with other iPhones. I’ve been happy. I know what I’m getting with an IOS device and that’s worth it to me.

Re: iPhone vs any android device - 12/17/20 03:40 PM

Had iPhone from start. Use about 30 apps. Primarily weather and stream Pandora while in my golf cart. Wife was android from beginning. Last month her 8 year old phone died and she got iPhone. She’s happy with it after a short learning curve. Luckily (for me) our CA in Sun City offers classes in iPhone use.

Re: iPhone vs any android device - 12/17/20 03:57 PM

It's really hard to switch to an android if you've had an apple. I had a blackberry for work for a while, and it was nothing but frustration.

That said, apple continually pisses me off by phasing out and changing their accessories.

Re: iPhone vs any android device - 12/17/20 04:15 PM

I was an Android guy for YEARS until I got my first iPhone last year. While Android is more powerful and has better cameras, Apple is more user friendly and reliable.

More apps work better with Apple which is why photos seem better online. Apple fits my lifestyle better nowadays due to the simplicity so I am likely going to stick with them. That is unless they keep NOT selling charges with their new phones to "rEdUcE wAsTe"

I don't know what your phone is, but it's the worst thing I've ever heard in my life. I'm dead serious, there's like a five second delay and it sounds like you're underwater. I suspect you have repaired it yourself several times.

Re: iPhone vs any android device - 12/17/20 04:47 PM

Ha, ha.

I refused to get a smart phone for years. About seven years ago, my best friend from medical school got me one for Christmas arguing that I will need it when we are forced to go to electronic medical records (he was right)

I'm still using that same phone, it is encased in the highest water proof protection encasement available--why it sounds like I'm talking from the other side of the room or on the other side of an aquarium.
