Fruit Tamales

Any of y'all ever tried any of these?
I love tamales, but just can't wrap my head around these flavors.

I've had the pina and pumpkin, but homemade. They are good. Not sure about store bought. Heat them on a griddle pan. Get the husks browned or even black, whichever leaves the actual tamale nicely toasted on the outside. Any tamale is great this way. Have them with coffee for breakfast or whenever

I would try the pumpkin cream cheese, pineapple and strawberry sound weird with tamale.

I have had chili with okra, was like eating snot. sorry but that is one vegetable I refuse to eat unless fried.

Tamales are made with pork just like the Bible says. End of story.

Can't speak for the packaged ones but I've had some homemade pineapple ones when I was in Arizona. A friends wife who was from Mexico made them as a dessert. I swear I ate a dozen by myself. Awesome is an understatement.

Had a friend from Satillo, Mexico who said they make tamales like that often in her family at Christmas.

Kat has posted sweet tamales she made around the holidays. I guess I would try some before I judged.

One of our custodians brings us homemade dessert tamales and some have fruit. They are very good, but I haven't had them since last year....thanks, Covid!

Sweet tamales are a traditional mexican thing. So you can't chili/soup them lol. The pina (pineapple) are the best imo. If you need to, get a pina empanada or pina filled sweet bread to test the waters.

We had some last Christmas. They were homemade and nobody in my family cared for them.

Had a Pastry Chef that made chocolate tamales for a dessert. They were good.

Never had any of those but had some homemade that had chocolate in them. It wasn't bad but nothing spectacular either.

I think fruit tamales would be too mushy . One sister uses apple pie filling to make enchiladas for Christmas and they are excellent .

I'd try it. Avocado and banana would be good.

I think pineapple would be ok if the masa was like a fried pie dough.
