Yes, excellent recovery! What was the cause of the flooding?

Based on the exterior photos, I'd venture to say that the exterior wall flashing around the kitchen vent exhaust duct was leaking. Flashing installations seem to be a difficult task for some who undertake them.

Soooooo...the vent on the outside was literally placed on the outside of the siding and then caulked, it did not have j trim around it or anything and I never noticed when I bought the house 3 years ago. Yes that was the leak. Once I actually looked at it I couldn’t believe whoever did the repairs like the did. When I say repairs several years ago a tornado came through and took off the siding of the house and it had to be repaired

Hopefully everything else is good but time will tell

Clean looking repair, especially protecting the counter top.

Thank you y’all for the comments on the repairs, it sucked and I had to tear apart and seal a lot more than the pictures represent. I probably went overboard but that’s what I do when it comes to leaked

Re: Good ole 2020 - 10/27/20 01:51 AM

Awesome repair work! cheers

Our house flooded (slab leak) during Christmas holidays last year and we still have not found a company to do the remodel to fix everything. bang

We got it semi-repaired but need the rest done and can not get a company to give us a quote, actually let us hire them when they give us a quote, or get them to call us back.

that repair will eventually leak again. you are missing a diverter flashing where the roof ends and the wall continues. I don't know how to post a pic on here, but follow this link to see an example.
