Horses are crazy. Gator is awesome, but this proves it, he's crazy too. I'd love to own a few but man they are always getting into something. I worked with some amazing cutting horses back in the day. I developed a drinking problem and also a love for them. Maybe one day...

One of my daughter’s crazy [censored] horses. Paint pony. Reared up and came down on a T post. Doesn’t look terrible in the pic but the vet was picking out and washing out pieces of bone. Went blind in that eye. We have 5 horses, 3 quarter horses 2 paints. Nothing but trouble.....

The other paint. They’ve got them both lined out now. I told those girls anyone can get on a trained up horse, let’s see y’all break a few. They’ve done well with them.

My little sister owned two horses years ago. Between feeding, training, riding, cleaning stalls, shots, worming, and yes an occasional injury, she spent a lot of time taking care of them. She loved every minute.

I can’t argue with you, they have been a handful. The girls started with those two paint horses that had been pasture pets for over 10 years and never ridden. It was a dogfight for them to get them trained which is what I wanted. Once they got them right they got good old QHs and my oldest was like dad, these horses are SO much easier to work with.... Lmao!!

Smartest horse I've ever had. Easiest horse I've ever started. Smoothest horse I've ever ridden. Too light in the britches to make a head horse, I'm not a healer. Made a great cow horse. Sired by Color Me Smart. Mare side has Sea Biscuit on papers. I've had many full QH and Paints. I've never seen any difference in temperament. Apps are another story.

That’s good to hear ReelSlow. My girls have those paints lined out as I said but people keep telling us they’re terrible.... I think some operator/rider error comes into play. Guys I grew up with that had ranches around Sterling City used to dog paint horses as well so who knows.

I know one thing, if I had the $ I’ve put into horses and horse related items for the last 5 years I could buy any bass boat on the market cash money.... I’m sure y’all can relate to that.

Toaster, I don't know many Cowboys that work on the back of a horse that give a hoot QH or Paint. A lot of hobby horse folks hear someone talk about Paints in that vein and it sticks on them and they pass it on. Seriously, Paints are pretty much a QH with too much color to qualify for QH registration. I'm no breeding / genetics expert by any stretch, but pretty much every Cowboy I know will tell you the best color for a horse is whatever color a good horse comes in. Temperament is a difficult trait to predict unless you really really know the temperament of both the Sire and Mare and have witnessed the results of the breeding over time.

Thanks, they are doing great here and the girls really enjoy them. Funny how things seem to stick after people say them enough. I judge animals the same as people and retain judgement until I form my own opinion. I coached 6 years before defecting to the oil field and if I learned anything that’s the most important take away.

Never heard it told that way. What I was always kidded about was the reason Indians rode paints was, they were the only horses slow enough for them to catch on foot.

They are great for endurance events. You won't see them much in Rodeo events because they are not quick off the line and not stout enough for roping. Some are used as ranch horses. Good temperament , good pleasure, trail horses.

I always thought they would make great mountain horses due to their endurance
