Has anyone been recently? I’m curious what it is like these days.

Sorry I can't update current events there but I wished they would all phuck themselves and die about 10 years ago. Worst vacation ever and I won 1g on a spinner in the first 15min of playing. Not my style, life or people.

Idk, but I’m supposed to go next weekend to visit a buddy of mine in Henderson. We are planning on playing a little blackjack.

Ya'll nailed it. Wife and I are flying into Las Vegas airport this winter on our way to Zion National Park to hike the Narrows. We won't even stop to step a foot in that cesspool.

Many many years ago it was a fun place to go.

Now of days they have turned it into a tourist trap and commercialized it and made everything expensive.

We were there at the end of July for a couple of days. Still quite a few people. The casinos are open, just have to wear a mask all of the time. Most of the restaurants are open. The biggest difference from last time we were there before covid was that no bars were open, which was most noticeable inside the casinos. Still plenty of weirdos walking around for your entertainment.

Good grief, you guys are a real joy. I go to Vegas every year after Christmas and have a blast. We meet up with a group of 10-12, play golf, gamble, eat great food, hit the Spa, maybe a show or concert enjoy some local legal substances and come home. Y’all are doing it all wrong or something.

I usually go week or 2 before Christmas, as the crowd usually less; but the crowd probably doesn’t matter now. Great food, great shows, Golf, and of course the gambling. Check the casino payout rates to increase your winnings. You find the some of same loons walking down any big city street. I usually taxi if The walk is too far for my liking.

Re: Las Vegas - 09/09/20 01:18 PM

used to win pretty good at the north vegas petro and pilot truck stop machines, left a bunch of times with 3-5k in my pocket.

free buffets with a cdl was a huge plus, stayed off the strip and always had a good time there.

Re: Las Vegas - 09/09/20 01:32 PM

I love Vegas for about 3-4 days. I have been probably a dozen times since 2005 and had fun every time. It isn't as cheap as it once was, but there are still some bargains to be found. The bride and I have stayed in 5-6 places (Aria, Cosmo, Golden Nugget, TI, Bellagio) and all have been great. We usually rent a car and take one day to just drive somewhere close for a daycation. Maybe play golf one day, or a spa day as well. We can usually book a 3-4 day for somewhere between $1200-$1500 total depending on what kind of rewards we have earned. Like anything, it is what you make it.

Re: Las Vegas - 09/09/20 01:42 PM

Vegas was in my region for work, I have been there a lot, too many times in fact. The first few times were fine because it was all new to me, then I got fed up. I started staying off the strip and didn’t even want to go down there. Last time I was there was for a basketball tournament with my youngest, bout 4 years ago. We stayed at the Luxor because it was cheap. Couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there.

Re: Las Vegas - 09/09/20 01:56 PM

I have to go for conferences every now and then, and staying as far away from downtown or the strip is key for me.
I do like the Red Rock Canyon area, and have enjoyed the Red Rock Casino/Resort.

You should have used that $1000 to get laid for once in your miserable life.

Headed there next weekend, go once a year usually. I enjoy gambling, seeing shows, eating at some of the good restaurants and will sit out at the pool with my wife. 2-3 days max then im ready to leave, but i enjoy every trip out there

We saw good shows over the years. Late Danny Gans was the best but enjoyed “Jersey Boys” last trip. I grew up listening to Frankie Valli so that was good.

Re: Las Vegas - 09/09/20 02:43 PM

Went for the first time last summer. We had a great time. Stayed at the cosmo. Won a couple of grand gambling and was there 7 days or so. We actually took the kids and did a bunch of stuff around Vegas. We shot a .50 caliber gun along with a bunch of others that was fun. Dune buggy riding, saw 3 different shows, Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam and other stuff. All in all it was fun to me and the family. Not sure if I’d like to go back or not. I would if someone twisted my arm but probably wouldn’t go back on my own. Once was enough to see what it’s about!

Never been. Want to do a long weekend trip next year there. I don't really care about the gambling part. Want to check out the city. Maybe hit a EDM party.

Re: Las Vegas - 09/09/20 03:47 PM

Wife and I go every year for our anniversary. We get free rooms at the Flamingo and 1 free buffet each daily. This way we usually only have to eat out once a day. We will typically eat a nice dinner on the strip a couple times then go off the strip a few times. We mostly go to play the slots and watch a show or two.

bump

I want to do something to celebrate my best friend's recovery from his accident. The one year anniversary of his car accident will be March 22. I am looking at taking him to Vegas. The last time I was in Vegas was 2001...so it's been a while.

For those of you that like it, where would y'all suggest staying? Luxor, as TexDawg pointed out, is one of the options because it is cheap. I want to see the Bodies exhibit and it is housed there, so that's one thing in it's favor....but Circa is adults only and I am not a big fan of rugrats, so that one is another one I'm considering. I want to take him to one of Chef Ramsey's restaurants, since we both like his shows and there is one in the Hard Rock...so it's an option...but like I said, it's been over 20 years, so I need help. He's also really into EDM, so I thought I'd try to find a show to take him to. I'd like to go 3/20-3/23 to work around his work schedule...So, suggestions, please?

Well, I don't know what you do in Vegas, but in this case, EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music. roflmao

Back about 10-12 years ago when I was working for a defense contractor, I would travel back and forth from Iraq to Yuma, Az. While working in YPG north of Yuma I would hit Vegas every couple of weeks, was only 4 hours away. Golden Nugget had a deal for $59 a night with military id and I had a company rental car with a gas account. Made for some fun cheap weekends.
