Re: Co-cola 600 Today - 05/24/20 04:06 PM

That'd be great...

BUT forecast is 60% chance of rain all night.

I'm not getting too excited about the race because I don't think they're going to get it in tonight. I hope they do but the forecast doesn't look good.

Really I think NASCAR should move it up a few hours but I don't think they're going to do that at this point. My bet is they get in a couple hundred laps and continue it tomorrow afternoon.

They should race with it raining.
It's ever who can get across the finish line anyways.

That would be cool!

However it does seem unlikely. I read that the two of them had a one-on-one meeting and that Elliot actually ended up apologizing for HIS behavior... They both said they consider the incident in the past... Smdh

*quick update on the weather forecast I just looked at it and it's improved quite a bit...they might get the full race in tonight after all

Went to the track in Abilene last night and they did it right. Started a little early, didn't have intermission and ran the races one right after another to beat the weather.

Kurt bush leading 1st 20 laps
Delayed due to weather
Let them race in the rain, would be exciting

Re: Co-cola 600 Today - 05/24/20 11:12 PM

Hamlin out before race ever started. Lost a big piece of tungsten that helps balance the car, down 8 laps.
Currently in rain delay at lap 50. Gonna be pressed to postpone this one since they have to race again Wednesday, may have some midnight racing.

Dang boys, I'm telling ya', if there wasn't bad luck, Chase Elliott wouldn't have any luck at all.

Glad the rain held off tonight.

Crazy.

I have no idea why Elliot pitted.

Cost him the win.

If he would have stayed out, they would have all come in and then he would have been restarting against them on tires that were 60 laps old. He would have sunk like a rock. He was in a lose/lose position there.

I would have stayed out and took the chance.

Re: Co-cola 600 Today - 05/25/20 04:26 AM

The only reason they stayed out is because he came in.

Either way he played it, he was going to be at a disadvantage, either in track position or tires. In both cases, it would be an insurmountable obstacle to victory with 2 laps left.

Re: Co-cola 600 Today - 05/25/20 04:27 AM

I *probably* would have, too, but they would have smoked him there, as well.

He did pretty darn good to salvage a 3rd.

Yea if he stays out he probably doesn't take 3rd, but knowing your gonna drop back in the pack and have a tough time getting back to the top I would have stayed out and took my chances. Tough decision to make when your trying to win.

Not all would've come in. He'd have 10 cars between him and those with 4 tires.

None of those cars were as fast as him and could not have picked up as many spots as he did in a lap and a half. Which was impressive, but that call was conservative and that seldom wins a race anymore. Loses lots of races lately.

I think the only thing he possibly would have had to gain by staying out would have been clean air. Would that have been enough? Who knows, but I doubt it. Water under the bridge at this point. If that #24 tire would have just held on for 2 more laps until Chase took the white flag he would have been money.

On another note, Jimmie was so close to breaking a triple digit winless streak tonight. Sooo close.

Those Hendrick cars were all dialed, though. They'll get another crack at it on Wednesday.

Re: Co-cola 600 Today - 05/25/20 01:09 PM

Since he wasn't losing ground to the field before the caution came out I would have stayed out and took my chances.
I'm sure had they seen him stay out they would have made a mad dash for the pits.
Either way his team mate unintentionally skeerude him.

That's the first time I've ever heard a team mascot be the Spiders. Did you get squashed a lot?
