PPE

PPE - 05/05/20 04:41 PM

This is our PPE drawer. When this stuff first was getting started we bought a pack of gloves and some masks. The rest we have found in the process of moving. Never realized we had this much PPE laying around our house. Elizabeth used to do a lot of broken tile art and taught me how to do it. That's where it came from.

I'm slacking in the PPE dept. I only have some rubber gloves. Bought those for when I color my wife's hair.

We've stayed pretty stocked on all that because of Rue. Glad we did with the way it is now.

Who knew we'd ever be in a situation where PPE porn was a thing.

So what exactly are the gloves for people are wearing out in public? I can't seem to figure it out. Is the virus absorbing through their skin?

I was in the bank drive thru a couple weeks ago. The guy in front of me was digging hard for nose gold. Then grabbed the canister. I had some gloves on the truck. I put them on before I grabbed the cannister that day.

After seeing that pic on here of the extremely large woman with her hand down the back of her yoga pants at the gas pump, I use a disposable glove at gas stations now. I probably will from now on too. People are gross.

I always have a couple boxes of gloves and some masks around.. even long before all this mess started.

I'm pretty sure the gloves are non-pourus enough to keep the corona from leaking through.

Gloves are a lot less irritating to my hands than chlorox wipes after i get back to the truck. Also helps me remember not to touch my face even if it itches.
There is a certain routine I use involving keys, credit card, door handle etc. I don't want to touch with the gloves still on.
So a trash bag or ziplock is required for first one and then the other glove. It's still not foolproof.

Half the time my hands still get a scrubbing with something when I get back in the truck! So my real answer I guess is that it just makes me fail safer when touching stuff other people have smeared their hands all over. 4 confirmed and 1 death in my county but that may change after the National Guard drive thru test on Saturday which I was not in. It's a pretty small risk population but I am in a high risk category so just try do the best I can.

I don't think it can be absorbed thru the skin, but if the guy in front of you at the gas pump has it and coughs or sneezes on the handle, you touch it with your hands and then touch your face (eyes, nose, mouth) then you could be infected. Same issue at credit card machines, ATMs, door handles, etc.

Yeah, have taken to keeping a small bottle of hand sanitizer in the truck, along with a can of clorox wipes. For gas pump handles, I keep some plastic grocery bags to use as a makeshift glove & then put it in the trash.

I'm being pragmatic. My odds of catching this bug are probably close to 100%, but maybe these things can stop it.
