We adopted him when he was 3 or 4 - not sure of his age. When he was fixed (before we got him), the vet didn't get both testicles, so the remaining is tumor-ized and the size of an orange. It has his blood all messed up. He will need 3 blood transfusions and removal of the mass. It's a major ordeal that could go one way or the other.

The vet in Mt. Pleasant sent us to Dallas for the surgery. He got a blood transfusion last night and should be in surgery right now. I think he will have to spend 3 days in ICU. He's with these folks - https://dvsc.com. We can't see him until tomorrow.

that is the place to go.your not gonna get a better care facility.i have spent a ton of money in that building.and have no complaints

He made it through the operation and is stable. Now we have to hope that his bone marrow will start producing blood cells again.

Hope it works JP we lost our nearly 14 year old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel 2 weeks ago it sucks.

If all goes well, Scruff could be with us another 5-7 years - maybe more. The procedure wasn't as expensive as some I have heard of, but it wasn't cheap. It was however, worth every dime we spent. He's an amazing little dog.

Elizabeth asked me last night if I thought we did all we could. I told her yes, without a doubt. Yesterday was the first day he seemed like he was actually in pain. The last 4-5 days he took a turn for the worse, but yesterday was bad. I took him to the vet and waited in the room for about 30 minutes since we didn't have an appointment. He winced a number of times while I was cradling him in my arms. When I laid him on the table for the doc to examine him, he lasted about another 5-10 minutes then gently passed. I am so glad we didn't have to euthanize him. He went on his own terms.

Yall did all you could. He was loved and had a happy life with yall.
I know it is tough. My lab is getting older and I am dreading the day I have to say goodbye to my friend.
Just be happy you were blessed with him

Find solace in that he went on his own terms. Of course you did all you could. And then some!
