My brother, who was on a downward spiral due to alcohol, just passed 1 year of being sober. You can do this. Take it one day at a time.

I don't drink much so 100 day is easy it can go past without notice.

Never smoked(parents smoked enough for the whole family) am allergic to Hops. One beer and I could hardly walk, two beers and I would be in a coma. I had my last drink when my daughter was born Sept. 28th 1970. So what I am saying is it can be done. Takes a strong will and to not let life get you down.
Congrats Brian

I like to drink, occasionally, but I can understand the addicts. It’s an everyday work in progress. Keep up the good, Spags. I’ve never wanted another drink the next day after drinking the day before. Just not in my DNA. I have seen the worst of alcoholics, though, that are members of my family. It’s scary.

addictive personality disorder is the culprit. Abstinence is the only treatment.

Stay strong Brian! Surround yourself with people who want to help you (especially around the holidays when people tend to go "crazy"). 100 days is great

I quit smoking six months ago. I also knew I had to quit drinking because the two go together. I don't crave cigarettes any more, but the urge to have a drink is still there. Stay strong, my friend. You can beat it.

Re: 100 days.... - 12/09/19 09:06 PM
I quit drinking after I spent the night in jail on my 22nd birthday. Haven't had a drop since (24 years). Every day is a win. Every social event will be a challenge, but you will get to the point of not really craving or wanting it. I lost many friends because I just had to get away from the source. My will power was weak so I had to get away. I focused more on fishing alone. It worked. Stay strong!! Congrats on day 100, 101,102.......
