Some of his songwriting made me laugh and tap my foot at the same time.

His catalog is so deep and varied.

For just a kick [censored] rock song, "Honey Bee" is hard to beat. "American Girl" is a huge anthem song. "Dont Come Around here No More" is one of the coolests and most unique songs ever done.

"Wildflowers" (that whole album) is written better than anything I have ever heard.

Look up "Cool" in the dictionary and there may be a picture of Petty. A unique voice that came along at the right time. The hits are great. The Wilburys. All the deep cuts and the song writing. He is great. GAOT? That is a personal opinion and not worth arguing over. He is in a long line of great. I never missed him when he rolled through here and caught his last show here. It was a place and a time in the '70's when I found him. And still enjoy his tunes.
