Pumpkin Pie - 11/12/19 06:48 PM
Am I the only one who says NO to pumpkin pie?
I’m fine with pumpkin bread, lukewarm on pumpkin spice coffee...but I would rather have no dessert than have pumpkin pie.
Anyone else?

It's disgusting.
Pumpkin pie is okay. Pecan pie is the GOAT.
Not a fan of pumpkin anything. I agree - I'll pass on dessert if pumpkin pie is the only option.

Re: Pumpkin Pie - 11/12/19 09:07 PM
All day err day.
I’ve eaten it the last two years but never in the past because I always thought it was nasty. The way people go crazy over it I thought I must have missed something so I tried it. It’s eatable but it’s certainly no game changer. Oh yeah, it needs whip cream.

I like it, and make one traditional for the family gathering, and a chiffon version just for me to have at the house. Goes great with a big dollop of heavy whipped cream on top.

Nope. We were poor, but in South Georgia, pecans are plentiful.
Same for peaches and tomatoes.

We were poor so we would go pick pecans in the woods.

Pecans are free and get the kids outta your hair for an hour or two while you send them to go fill up a sack or two. And then it's something to keep them busy at night after dark... cracking, shelling, and picking.

Old age. She was a great lady.
Grandma always put out 5 types of pies on Thanksgiving and Christmas, all homemade, all from ingredients from her farm. Pumpkin, Apple, Peach, Mincemeat, and Rhubarb. Never cared for the rhubarb. Her Mincemeat was the best.
Pumpkin pie was good hot or cold. Had to have an equal depth of whipped cream on top though.

Speaking of pies, has anyone ever tried the butter cream pie that Pappy's Hamburgers on Mockingbird serves? Prolly the best tasting pie that I've had in a long time.

Love any cobblers or pies that were homemade . Especially love Strawberry Rhubarb pie !! Had to be fresh tho . I've had store bought from Albertsons Grocery but eat it quick cause 2 - 3 days max before mold sets in . No more store bought unless it's Sarah Lees' Apple , peach , or Cherry !!! Uummm !!

Agree with grandma; the best pies after all the turkey, ham, stuffing/dressing are acidic to cleanse the palate
Strawberry Rhubarb
Key Lime
Mince Pie
Lemon

A lot of the places around here serve what they call peach cobbler. In reality, it is peach pie filling and bisquick.
I think they should be arrested....false advertising.
Use to like it not anymore.I like pecan pie and a cold beer.after Thanksgiving.

Not a fan of pecan pie. When I was a little kid, I threw up after a big meal. I blamed the pecan pie I had for dessert and haven’t had a bite since.

Thanksgiving. The grown kids like a coconut pie and the grandkids want a chocolate pie.
I will buy myself a pecan pie.
With the price of pecans I can buy one cheaper than we can make one.
Any other pie we cook our own
