Vaughan's catfish on Sandlin

Went there Saturday night, now granted it has been about 25 years ago since my last visit there. But I sure don't remember the beans being that damn good.

I went to Cici's on Saturday. My guts are still ruined.

Pretty good stuff - I like to go there just don't make it too often. I make it to Huck's in Sherman/Denison more.

How was the fish and rest of the meal? When the beans became the best thing they had, we stopped going, haven't been in a couple years. White Oak Buffet in Sulphur Springs is our go-to fish place now.

I was there about 8 years ago, Catfish was not very good.

Good beans? At they're prices they should have good fish. But they don't.

Overpriced, extremely mediocre fried food!

We stopped going there 8 or 10 years ago. The catfish tasted like it had spent most of its life in bog water ... no, not bong water ... bog water.

Is this better than AJ's?

AJ's is some good eating - I'm pretty sure even the salad can come fried.

Vaughan's had some great catfish (and shrimp) back in the 90's and early 20's. Owner sold the business and it got bad real fast. Stopped going for many year's. Went back a few weeks ago at the recommendation of a neighbor (I have a place on Sandlin). Fish, hush puppys, fritters and beans all were very good. It's is now back on my "recommend" list. So try it again to see what you think.

I agree with most of you about it being overpriced. Fish is good, but not great. Price is way too high.

Ciro's in Caddo Mills right down the road from us is our go-to fish place. Crazy good food. We go to Sandlin a few times a year and used to go to Vaughan's, but haven't been in years.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you. Haven't ate at AJ's. I need to try it and do a comparison.

New owners have restored the quality it once had. Went in the spring and everything was very good.
