I'll even mix in a lioness that has been shunned and needs to make a kill to show the pride that she is worthy.

Well one May have had to many peaches then stumbled, and ended up with a smashed face needing some stitches. Ratz is behind him trying to contain madness and another fellow Brandon. The poor fellow on the ground thought he was going to have a prostate exam, them became rowdy. The cops were called and contained the situation. All is well at this time, but we still have tomorrow being the first day of dove hinting.

Right, throw some super glue on the gash then duct tape it, let 'em sleep and wake him up for the afternoon hunt next day.
Bunch of pansies when they see blood and always wanting to take someone to the hospital! That's just ruining a man's normal weekend.

Oh and if you don't have super glue, just bust a shell open and pour the gunpowder in the gash and light it up. Cauterize that baby, a drunk ain't gonna feel it.

Re: Dove hunting with Ratz - 09/02/19 07:29 PM

so here is the story. One of my best friends got way to drunk on Saturday night. Might have been from the tons of shine he drank. well he fell and tripped over a folding chair and busted his lip and it looked like hamburger with chunks of flesh hanging. So we loaded him up and took him to the local hospital which was not 2 blocks away. he was still very drunk and kinda combative with the nurse. well he calmed down bit, but not great. When they decided to give him a tetnis shot he came unglued. I tried to get him back in the bed but he started to rep of heart leads. When the nurse said they'd give it to him standing he pushed/punched her in the chest. So I grabbed him and tried to calm him down then he tried to fight me. As much as I wanted to beat his azzz then he started to to try and fight me. I was able to hold his arms down, and went to do a leg sweep, but he got away. He started to kick me in my left leg. Now I really wanted to swing at him, but not in a hospital. He then pushed/hit the nurse again so we went at it. Had each other in a head lock, but I was fine and could breath. They called the sheriff who was there in 30 seconds it seemed. The deputy gave him several chances to calm down but the he got up and took a swing at him, so the deputy threw him to the ground. I got behind and crossed his legs and put my knee into them so he couldn't struggle much. He cuffed him and then he started to run his mouth off at the deputy. This was really a good thing cause he was so drunk he would have tried to start a fight with one of us when we got back to the house we stayed at. While the deputy was putting him in his truck he was again cussing the deputy and giving him hell. The deputy told us it would be Tuesday before he'd get out being s holiday weekend. Well we went back and enjoyed to cold beer. I knew I'd have to call his wife, but decided to wait till morning as there was nothing she could do then. He was supposed to fly to San Fran on Tuesday. So him not getting out till Tuesday would most likely cause him to lose his new job. Well we called up to the jail the next morning to see how it was going, and they said we could come get him then. Well we picked him up, and he didn't remember anything other than his jacked up lip and blood that was all over him. He decided not to hang around and hunt with us Sunday afternoon. He was very embarrassed, and his pride was hurt.S o he piled up his stuff and drove home.

He's been one of my best friends since we were 11 years old. Not defending him, but it was more of a hard push to her chest, which is when and why I jumped in to hold him down. There is no excuse for what he did, regardless of how drunk he was. He's got a drinking problem and I hope this opens his yeys that it's time to stop drinking or at least get it under control.

Sorry all this happened. Kinda puts a bad light on but was certainly supposed to be a fun and family-oriented trip.

It does sound like your friend might have a bit of a drinking problem. And I'm not judging. I love to drink myself. But you have to know when to say when.

If you are getting physical with women, police officers and your friends... Way past time to say when. Hopefully this is a big wake-up call for your buddy.

No one trying to do their job should get assaulted by a drunken jerk. Your "friend" is lucky, because the assault of emergency services personnel (ER nurse) is enhanced to a felony. I'm biased police, but his butt should still be in jail... 2cents

Re: Dove hunting with Ratz - 09/02/19 09:56 PM

Nothing ever good comes from homemade shine on fishing or hunting trips. Some guys had some on one of our Calcasieu trips. It was in a gallon jug. The think they actually called it homemade whiskey. I took a small sip because they insisted. My remarks were “nothing good is going to come out of that jug”. A couple of hours later a guy runs upstairs and says “Ron and Shawn are fixing to throw down.” They are some good sized old boys. We all look at each other and no one moves. Someone says tell them to have a good time.

Homemade whiskey is now banned. Plus a couple weren’t asked back. We are too old for that nonsense.

Ok now I don't know who to believe. My SIL is a Judge and her and my brother say she is on the clock 24/7/365. He says she is expected/has to go to set bail on deals like this pretty much when it happens. Oh yeah the county has 1 town of 3,500

Now that we are neighbors I will invite you to the crawfish boil. These are known to get a little out of hand. Add the new neighbors there may be a few divorces

I talked to my buddy today. He's apologized about 100x so far. He knows he screwed up. Good news is his wife took it better than he thought she would so no divorce in the future. He doesn't really remember much of what happened. He's lucky he got out when he did cause he was supposed to fly to san fran today for work. This is a job he's only had for a couple months. I hope he really looks into getting some help with his drinking. I don't know how to tell him he needs to get it under control if this little lesson didn't open his eyes. I hope his wife lays down the line and makes him get some help.

When you get violent as a drunk, you need to stop big time. Its one thing to get drunk and have a drinking problem, but you go crazy as a drunk it should be over.

Maybe take better care to make sure the violent drunk doesn’t have access to moonshine? Maybe use the “hey, remember when you assaulted me and those nurses in the hospital? No? I think you need to stop drinking” card?

Or, “hey bud, I’ve been meaning to tell you, I don’t feel comfortable around you when you’re drinking, especially after you assaulted me and two nurses and got arrested the night before opening day.”

All studies show that those with a strong support system have the best odds of recovering from an addiction.
Whether it's rehabilitation through the church, family support, temple, AA, Betty Ford, group therapy, etc; your odds of quitting an addiction are greatly improved with the support system they provide.

A few can do it successfully on their own.

Nurses get punched, slapped, bit, kicked, pushed and spit on all the time by people that aren't in their right mind. The dude was out of control but he's not the anti-Christ. Anyone that hasn't had a friend that was a mean drunk hasn't had many friends IMO. It made a great, funny story that we will be talking about or referring to on the OT for years

In all honesty Ratz. The leg sweep is a difficult move to master. If I was you I would take the Diemon Dave Ninja School classes and work on mastering the Judy Chop. You'll be much better prepared for next year. Your hands will be lethal weapons soon. So please remember. Don't Go Ninjin, Nobody That Don't Need Ninjin

Ratz is far more advanced in his martial art training than what he’d learn at Diemon Dave Ninja School. At the very minimum he should consider Rex Kwon Do, but the ideal training would come from Fred Simmons. Fred’s Biography and life story has been captured on film in “The Foot Fist Way” and is a must see.

As much as Rex kwon do would help, I would argue that Ratz should buy an 18 wheeler (with no A/C), Rio the bed out of the sleeper part of the cab, and install a weight set back there. Then once he wins the arm wrestling championship of the world, he can work on sweeping the leg. Upper body strength is a necessary component in leg sweeps.

maybe help dry out

having done rehab, twice, I can tell you it works. first time was thru the va in temple, 90 days inpatient and another 90 in a halfway house. second time was court ordered and also when I got my wake up call due to a dui. not all that far apart either and totally my fault for drinking again.
it all depends on the person and how bad they want to stop drinking, but rehab is a vital step in sobering up.

This is it in a nutshell.

You have to want to stop. Regardless of the issue, if you don't want to change, it ain't going to happen.

the moonshine wasn't to blame. We all drank plenty of it. He was the only one to blame for getting too drunk and losing his cool.

So you're not accepting any of the blame for providing the guy with the moonshine?

Re: Dove hunting with Ratz - 09/04/19 11:13 PM

I had plenty of the moonshine and even ate a few of the peaches. I think it was a combination of the multiple beers, moonshine and drinking a lot of “ranch waters” (tequila and soda water).

I feel some are taking this to far. Was what he did right? No, but was it handled and taken care of immediately YES. Do I condone the behavior absolutely not. We have all made mistakes in life. To cast a stone is ridiculous, and I can tell you he felt the weight of his mistake the next day. We were all there to have a good time and tried to take care of each other the best we could. He really did need medical attention, that a first aid kit or super glue wouldn’t achieve. Ratz is a hell of a guy that I’m sure would give the shirt off his back if you needed one as well as the rest that were there. Don’t point fingers or place blame. This individual made a bad decision and I believe he did learn/regret the following day. The rest of the trip was a good time. There was a common lesson to the young that started before this incident that was don’t be an as* hole. That lesson may stick with them the rest of their lives. He was being an as*hole and ended up where as*hole end up, but I would still take another trip with him tomorrow. Just a little more cautious. Also stay off of B he is a hell of a good guy I’ll yell it if I have to.

Same here - the shine went down easy and the peaches, not so much. He went from 6.5 drunk to 10.0 (1-10 scale) in less than an hour, so the shine definitely had something to do with it, but he was chugging it vs. taking a quick swig. There were 7 other adults partaking and no one else had a problem.

As far as Ratz shutting down his friendship due to the incident - that's up to him. I personally would not have problem if he came back next year (assuming I get invited again). He was there last year and i found him to be a very likable guy. In fact he was likable at the lodge this year, but I didn't see him at the hospital.

Re: Dove hunting with Ratz - 09/05/19 04:33 PM

How did you all get to the hospital? Hoped you Ubered as everyone had been drinking.

The guy messed up. It happens due to an apparent string of bad decisions. Glad nobody was seriously hurt including those that were assaulted.

If he was driven to the hospital by either a drunk/buzzed driver, then real glad that the lot of you didn't get in an accident or killed a family of five. That would have been a bad decision of more epic proportion.

Less than 160 yards away? Why not just walk after drinking?
And that 3 beers in 2 hours is a pretty standard answer that I bet cops hear a lot when pulling over people that have been drinking.
