Dont think this is right. - 08/13/19 07:56 PM

Wife got a new Toyota a couple months ago. It has the lane warning alerts and stuff that a car doesn't need and we didn't ask for. Standard equipment now. She had to get the windshield replaced and now her dash is lit up like a Christmas tree because the sensors are in it. Its not covered under warrenty and the Toyota dealers want to charge 400 bucks to reset it.

Common sense tells you to reset them yourself or have the company that installs a new windshield do it.

I would light some people up like a Christmas tree until this is taken care of properly

I loath car dealerships, especially Toyota—great vehicles, but the BS at the dealership infuriates me

When I had a Saturn, I was treated like royalty at the dealership, but Toyota will try to aggressively milk you for every penny

If windshields were part of the warranty then it would have been fixed/replaced under warranty and the codes associated with that repair would have also been fixed. You’re trying to get them to fix something that is not covered by the warranty for free.

You have got to be the most hostile uptight guy on this forum. As for your wife windshield problem up on the rearview mirror is the module for the adaptive cruise control. When the windshield is replaced it needs to be calibrated. Most competent glass shops have the ability to do this. Actually if their good they can replace the glass without having to do it. Second cause is the wrong windshield was used. Vehicles that have this feature use a windshield that is void of tint and UV in that area. Either way if your insurance paid to replace it call them. If it was out of pocket blame the company that replaced the glass.
Oh and lighten up. Your wrapped way too tight and seem to blame all your problems on the rest of the world. Accept responsibility and grow the frig up.

Well nimrod, there’s circuitry embedded in an iPhone screen. How do you think touch screen works?

My company car has that same [censored] on it, but the sensors aren't in the glass. There is a camera on each side of the rear view mirror.
Can you take it to another Toyota dealer, don't tell them that you had the glass replaced and have it fixed under warranty?

when I changed tire size I went to a dealer to have the truck reprogramed for 34", cost 125.00 for 15 min. of a tech with a laptop and they had to program to 35s like come on the raptor.

shops charge by the hr. and while 400 is a rip off imo I don't know what they have to reprogam so it may take awhile?

I’ve figured out how to turn the lane warning off, but can’t for the life of me get the stupid radar thing to turn off. It’s annoying when using the cruise control and I can’t pass a car to the side of me because my Tundra (made in San Antonio by Americans) thinks I’m too close to the car in front of me.

Hold the cruise "on" button for about 4 seconds when you turn the cruise on. Works on the wife's RAV (2016) and my new Camry.

Awesome. Thanks!

Yes thanks. If I do pull the trigger on one turning this stuff off is priority #1. That Camry was fun enough to drive, but the lane warnings were a beating (yes, I know I should drive better but I don't care)

Why do you hate Americans and Texans, their paychecks, our allies and global partnerships aimed at “the preservation and promotion of political and economic freedoms...”?

https://www.state.gov/u-s-relations-with-japan/

The U.S.-Japan Alliance is the cornerstone of U.S. security interests in Asia and is fundamental to regional stability and prosperity. The Alliance is based on shared vital interests and values, including: the maintenance of stability in the Indo-Pacific region: the preservation and promotion of political and economic freedoms; support for human rights and democratic institutions; and, the expansion of prosperity for the people of both countries and the international community as a whole.

The U.S.-Japan Alliance was strengthened in 2015 through the release of the revised U.S.-Japan Defense Guidelines, which provide for new and expanded forms of security-oriented cooperation. Japan provides bases as well as financial and material support to U.S. forward-deployed forces, which are essential for maintaining stability in the region. In January 2016 the United States and Japan signed a new five-year package of host nation support for U.S. forces in Japan. In December 2016, the United States returned a major portion of the Northern Training Area, nearly 10,000 acres, reducing the amount of land utilized by the United States on Okinawa by close to 20 percent.

I went to Japan once. It was nice. Lots of people. Lots of white people. I was like thinking "Hey, where the Japanese women at!?"

They all spoke some English and really got a kick out of trying it out on me. I guess they take English in High School like we take Spanish or French so they all seemed to know a bit. The toilets were very strange. Like a trench in the ground you kind of squat over then the water would run through when you flushed. A LOT Of people wore like surgical masks like Micheal Jackson. I was told if you have a cough or cold its rude not to wear one. They DO have a fascination with very odd porn. There are lots of tiny bars in alley ways. I mean bars that hold like 8 people crammed in. The thing seems to be going from tiny bar to to tiny bar. This was 15 years ago so not sure what the exchange rate is now but the Yen was really strong so it was not cheap. I kept doing the math in my head to convert dollars to yen when buying something and it was ticking me off. They love baseball. I was wearing a Dodgers hat and that was a big ice breaker. They all know the Dodgers and want to talk baseball. Kind of cool.

I would like to go back. We were only there for 2.5 days and did not get out of Tokyo. Seems like a cool place to visit and explore for a week or so.

Thats my book report on Japan. Thanks for reading. I hope I get an A!

My Tundra has a button on the steering wheel to turn off the lane departure and the radar (2019).

They have decency laws there and at least some parts have to be blurred. It is rarely enforced. According to Wikipedia, the last time it was enforced was 2004 and the director got fined $5,000 and the studio was fined $15,000 (I think that’s what I read earlier).

I have seen plenty of Japanese porn. Yes, they do fuzzy out certain things, but I don't believe it's illegal. At least I hope not! Maybe it's the Chinese manufacturing machine at work and they are producing low cost porn and passing it off as Japanese porn.
