Uh..... so Covington prolly gonna get it? I guess my plans of surf fishing Long Beach MS Saturday are off?

I crossed the Mississippi at Baton Rouge Saturday, it looks about 5-6' from going over the levee.

Hurricane or not, I would not go surf fishing in Mississippo right now.

Gulfport, Miss. — With temperatures in the upper 90's Tuesday, it was a good day for a swim along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. But a toxic algae bloom has forced the state to close all coastal beaches for swimming. There's even a warning against eating local seafood.

I've forgotten which hurricane but I limited on specks at SLP the Monday before and Friday of the same week. I was the only one fishing. The water was tea colored Friday.

It's already flooding in New Orleans. A friend of mines wife was evacuated from work this morning. My money says the storm will hit 48.7 miles east of Beaumont.

Hop, so tell me, 90 degrees and 70% humidity in the area is going to do what to the storm?

Anyone remember the 17"s of rain Houston got in 2001.

That caused a lot of economic damage. This will be the same if it lands in a populated area.

Tropical Storm Allison dropped 40" of rain on Houston over 3 days. Most of it in a 24 hour period. $8.5 billion in damages.

If this is a poll, my vote goes for a direct hit on Brownsville and a slow track to the NW that exactly follows the Rio Grande.

Yep. I was trapped at the hospital for 4 days with the last significant rain event, without water for 3 of those days other than rationed bottled water. I did have beer though.

I do think it's weird that this low pressure is coming off the southeastern US into the Gulf becoming tropical. Can't remember that ever happening before. Also it's early in the season. Audrey was in June of 1957 and formed in the Gulf. Killed 400. I've talked to a couple of survivors.
