Dinner tonight

Scrimp scampi is such a simple dish especially since you can now get frozen shrimp peeled and deveined. Looking back, I don't think I would do it the old fashion way. We would anchor behind a shrimp boat, fish for awhile and eventually trade beer for shrimp, or wait on a friend to make a haul.



The steam was still coming off them to cause the picture to be a little fizzy. Had it with a salad and a beer.

Deviated shrimp are the best.

Where did you get your shrimp? Did they have the heads on? Did you have to peel and devain them?

Finally.

I stock up when I'm down at the coast and/or buy them when I'm near an HEB that has wild caught gulf shrimp.
My wife peels them and deveins them, like she should since I buy them.
I do her a favor and get them headless as she prefers them that way and I'm nothing if not accomodating.
She will be cooking and serving them in a bit. I'll try to remember to post a pic.
Oh, she will also be making homemade pico de gallo to go on them.

I remember in Rockport you could hang out in Fulton harbor and buy huge shrimp for 3-4$ a pound right off the boat. The last time I did it, I bought all the shrimp the boat had and had tourist saying rude things about sharing and stuff. I just buy it all from Flowers Seafood now, avoid the mess at the harbor.

Flowers is legit.

I've eaten my bait shrimp in the past. We could catch 16 count shrimp with cast nets around San Luis Pass.

You can add a can of minced clams to this dish.

I've got some frozen HEB pizza I might cook up since the fam moved to the MIL's while the house gets work done and I stay here and monitor the situation.

We're having stuffed cornish game hens, corn on the cob and mashed taters, all purchased at the new most BA grocery store on the westside, HEB
