When my children were babies, we would watch the TV with the sound off with subtitles when they were sleeping.
Haven't turned off subtitles since. Just sort of got in the habit of reading what the announcers say.

Ya, losing my hearing and reading is much easier than trying to understand someone low talking.

The volume on my tv is rarely higher than 13, and we never use closed captioning.

I use it for older movies where the sound wasn't recorded well, or for movies where the actors have thick accents.

I hate you. Your time will come.
Only time I use it is when Pelosi is talking. Can't understand a dam thang that beach says. She needs to get her dentures re-fitted.

All the time. Severe high frequency loss that is virtually not correctable. I’ve started watching some foreign series on Net Flix and keep sound at 6.

I've seen many people be surprised by how much dialogue they miss when not using cc. They get the gist of what's being said via context but miss quite a few details. Personally, I like cc but the lady doesn't so we don't use them. I especially like them when people are speaking with thick accents.
