Getting Old - 10/01/18 05:29 PM

I know I am getting old...

My wild oats now are enjoyed with prunes and all bran.

I notice when I have to trim my eye brows more often than getting a normal hair cut. Also what is with these random scraggly hairs that grow from my ears!

Don’t worry too much about those random scraggly ones Urban.
It’s that werewolf ear thing that’s started to bug me. My 5 blade Gillette that I get about a year of use out of keeps that coat of fur sheared off both ears.

TR176 I feel your frustration brother. I thought it was just me that needed landing lights to see stuff in the house. Readers don’t help me in that department. I can see ok outside at high noon if zero cloud cover. So I got that going for me.

I'm getting there, eyebrows growing better than the hair on my head. Going to bed earlier because now I can wake up at 5:30 without an alarm clock. Blurry eyesight when trying to read and pill bottles on the counter. It sure is fun though.

I went looking for my readers yesterday.. they weren't next to my laptop where I remember using them last, went outside to back porch and looked around chair I had just sat in to have a smoke.. nope, felt on top of my head where they are often hiding.. nope, went back to laptop and looked around again.. nope. Finally found them.. I was wearing them. bang

Him: look papa, I can hit the water from here!! Can you?
Me: no. I’m tryin not to dribble on my boots.

I have spent 20 minutes look for a tools I had just used 10 minutes ago. Would find them hiding in my back pocket. Sad thing was I was in my 20s. Now days I can't remember I have tools or a back pocket.

Re: Getting Old - 10/03/18 02:34 PM

one word - SHINGLES!!

Anybody else had this? I had heard of it, but didn't know what it was until it knocked me to my knees. According to my internet searches, 1/3 over the age of 50 will get it (assuming you had chickenpox as a kid). I'm almost 3 weeks into it, and the pain is still intense. Doc gave me an anti-viral, but it hasn't helped much. No fishing or golf for me until this goes away. Feels like one of the Cowboy's linebackers planted their helmet into my left side ribs.

FYI, there is a vaccine that you can get; talk to your doctor. YOU DON'T WANT THIS!

Re: Getting Old - 10/03/18 02:42 PM

Yep, my sister had it. Wife and I have had first of two shingles vaccine shots. Second one is back ordered, but due soon. It’s not cheap though. About $150 per shot and you need two shots over a few months time.

It wasn’t that many years ago I wondered why anyone would buy those multipacks of readers at Sam’s or Costco....

Now I understand.

I did it and didn't realize it until I threw the spinner bait I'd just tied on, over the side of the boat.
