My bike needs an tune up, new tires and maybe wheels. And who knows what else. It's been pretty neglected by me for a couple years. But at the prices bike shops charge for tune up's these days. Up to $179 plus parts. Bike was only $600 new. I would be better off buying a new bike that comes with lifetime tune up's. Opinions from my bike riders? My bike is a Specialized Sirrus.

Good tires on Ebay are about $80 for a pair. At a shop they will be close to double that for a pair.

Lantini's in Plano is where I recommend taking it if you don't mind the drive. They will shoot you straight and most likely be the lowest price for a tune up.

I checked their website and their prices are even more $$.

The Walmart in Highland Village has a bike shop. They sell high dollar bikes. They do tune ups, etc. It may be worth checking there to see if it is cheaper than other bike shops.

Their mechanical tune is $90. That's not bad compared to other shops prices that I have seen.

You tube will get you shifting again.if the wheels are trashed I'd just buy a new bike.

Why do you need new wheels? If they're not bent, you should be able to true them through spoke adjustments.

Those $179 tune ups you're talking about are pretty thorough. If you've neglected it like you said you have, it'll bring it back to life like a new bike. It might be worth it assuming you don't need to purchase those new wheels to go along with the tune - even for a $600 bike.

The local shop charges ~100-150 bucks to go through and do a tune up. Unlike a lot of things in life, this is money well spent. If your shop has good reviews I wouldn't hesitate to have them do a tune up on it for 200. It will help a bunch. You will really notice an improvement in the shifting components.

Unless it's just trashed, like it's been left out on a balcony for years... You may just need to take some simple green and get with it cleaning it up. Get a good spray lubricant and hit all of the moving parts then wipe off the excess. Put some air in the tubes and see how it does. Don't go crazy with the water spray nozzle into the crankset and cassette on the rear wheel though.

Once you do that you may take it in and see what it'd cost just to have new cables put on, they'd adjust and setup everything back up how it's supposed to be if they're not working right. Probably get out for less than $50 that way.
