Giving back....

Giving back.... - 04/08/15 08:21 PM

Ok so when I grew up I loved fishing. But my family was pretty poor. I couldn't afford lures like I wanted. But one day I found a small crank bait on the shore where I was fishing. With that little crank bait I caught my first bass and started a sickness for bass fishing that is still growing today.
I tell you this story because I believe I can do more to get kids into fishing then having them "finding" my lost lures. wink
I was just cleaning out the man cave and found a few lures and a tackle box that I don't use much, or I would like to pass on to a kiddo that NEEDS them.
So here's the deal. If you have a YOUNG fisher person that could use a jump start in fishing these are free. All you have to do is pick them up from me in the next couple weeks. I live on Ray Roberts lake just north of denton.

Good thing you are doing here. I actually need to do the same. I have TONS of plastic and plastic boxes I don't ever use and need to get rid of and dont really care to try and sell them. MAybe donating to a high school bass club somewhere or something like that would be a good idea? Need to go through my stuff first but I know I have a BUNCH.

If y'all don't find any takers, this kid is taking old plastics (used or not, I believe) turning them into crawls and selling them. The cool thing is, for every bag he sells, he will donate a bag to a high school or college fishing team. For every four bags he sells to a retailer, he will donate one bag.

Seems like a smart kid and I like the idea. If you can't find any takers, this might be the next best thing.

I like what this kid is doing. I'll start saving my spent rubber worms to send to him. These that I have now still have plenty life in them to be fished with as they are. But well see how it plats out.

I may know just the kid that needs those Shaun. Let me talk with his parents this week. Im also trying to find him a great deal on a used kayak. He has saved up his own money but doesn't have much. Maybe $300. thumb

a lot of local high schools have bass fishing clubs. I bet they have a few kiddos that could put this tackle to good use. Great work Shaun!

TP&W also takes donations like that. Me and a buddy just did a spring cleaning and donated a bunch of tackle and old rod & reels.
