I am looking to maybe hit the brazos below whitney this weekend. I know it will be somewhat windy. Does that make a difference on that part of the river? I was not sure if it is blocked by winds at all. How is sandbass and bass fishing this time of year there? I will be kayaking there.Any help is appreciated. JP

A strong south wind can make for a hard day of paddling down there.
I have caught white bass there before but not many.

You might try the Sabine-less wind and more fish.

yup the wind can be brutal. The river bed acts as a wind tunnel in most places with just a few protected spots. In a high south wind I will usually paddle into it down stream and sail back upstream to the put in once I've had enough.

Again, like Joe said, not a lot of sand bass but there are some.

I will usually get on the water super early when I know there will be a strong south wind before it sets in. I will get as far down river as I can before the wind picks up and float back up river with the wind like Federale suggested. thumb

This looks like an interesting paddle. Even if you take the short 37 mile run you are looking at two or three nights on the river minimum. This could be fun come spring.
