micro pole

does anyone else make one of these beside JL marine?

Any reviews on them so far? i assume a small 12v battery powers them, any pros or cons out there other than the cost??

I have one. If there's another manufacturer out there I haven't seen it yet. I power mine with a deer feeder battery like you would with any other electronics on your kayak. I like having it and personally think it's wotth the money.

I can just imagine the backlash that thing would give me, I already catch my rudder on occasion and it only sticks up a couple inches. With that said it would sure be nice at times in shallow water.

i agree it looks like it would be all up in the way. I have to cast side arm half the time cause the rods in my crate and ram tubes. i prefer to the old stake out pole and brush clips. But i agree it would a sweet piece of gear to have. how is the weight on it?

They are very nice and don't get in the way with casting. It'd be pretty cool if you could put two on the yak

I've had one installed on my yak for a couple months now. Mine is mounted on the stern and deploys right beside the rudder on my slayer propel. It's never been in the way of a cast but does tend to catch trees. To be honest I haven't used it as much as I thought I would. That's mostly because it will grab in 6.5 ft and shallower water and I've spent most of my time deeper than that. Spring fishing will have me in water where it will come in handy. Also, I have found that I can I can hold position pretty good with the peddle drive most days. I bet I'd really love the micro anchor if I paddled. Seems like it catches noticeably more wind than just my rods alone sticking up behind me, but that may not be true. Having said all that, I'm not sorry I bought the thing. I'll use it a bunch these next few months. I intend to get the battery pack for it because it won't deploy once the battery drains to a certain level and that caused me grief going under a bridge late one evening after fishing all day

I just bought one and it's surprisingly light weight the spike may weigh as much as the unit it's self haha... Hoping to put it to use this weekend as I haven't even got the thing wet yet. And mjmfc are you talking bout Athens? That's one low bridge

I'm thinking of one for my 16 ft john boat , but it's tough to decide manual pole anchor or motored. I am wanting to see some good pics of some on the back of john boats with different mounting ideas. Hate drilling holes on the transom!
