Went on a trip with Shane (yaknyota), B-Rod, B-Rods friend Ollie and Ollie's son Jacob. Got to the put in location at sunrise and it was a brisk 60 degrees out. Once the sun came out it warmed up quickly and turned into a beautiful day. I had a great time and learned A LOT about fishing the Brazos. Shane is not only a really nice guy but he is very knowledgeable and enjoys sharing his knowledge with his customers. We caught quite a few fish. Between the 4 of us we caught large mouth, small mouth, cats, striper, drum, blue gill, and one gar. Jacob the youngster caught the big fish of the day. His largemouth was HUGE. Hopefully the guys post some of the pictures. I caught a fairly large black bass too. Its my biggest fish in a while.

We stayed on the water until right before dark. If you haven't ever been to the Brazos your missing out on one of the best fishing rivers in Texas. The variety of fish, the scenery, and the water quality are top notch there. And I highly recommend going on one of yaknyota's guided trips. He works his butt off to make sure you have a great time.

Hopefully B-Rod can add to this with his pictures. Here is my big bass.....

That's a great pic, Dave. I've chistened her, "Hawgzilla." LOL. I will post more pics and a write up tonight or tomorrow.

Some of you may yawn as you read this but my son and I happened to paddle past this group as they were fishing and I was actually excited to recognize an actual YaknYoda fishing trip.
We tried to stay out of their way as we were passing by as I could hear yaknyoda giving instructions to who I believe was Daveg99.
I did yell out to Shane and he responded back wondering if we were "On the Forum".
We paddled slowly away and hoped we would see a fish explode on their line but it was not to be.
I'm glad you had a great trip Daveg99---I look forward to seeing pics of other fish that we passed by and ya'll caught!

We caught several bass but not any monsters--A few channels while were camping that evening--good eating size--
I actually had fun catching perch to use for bait.
We hooked several big gar on whole perch, we could see them and fight 'em briefly, just didn't get them to the bank.
we were hoping for something else to hit those perch, but the gar were fun anyway and kept us busy.
This was our first river trip together in 9 years
(college, Marines, wife and child) so that part was great also.
I love that river!
It was cool to see ya'll in action.

Sounds like a great day with Shane, as well as another good trip for bbop111. I hope to book one in the spring.

Glad to hear the trip with Shane was good. Me and my buddy went up river from Rochelle's but the fishing wasn't that good. I caught four small bass and one gar. My buddy caught a big drum on a swim bait. Took him about five minutes to land the thing. There were several spots that looked good but no fish.
