Thought it would be a great day of fishing and left the house at 4:30 to get on the water at first light.. water temps low 70's all day, lots of small bass, white bass, and catfish.. nothing over a couple of pounds, caught them on underspin with 5 inch swimbait, 6xd, and 5 inch flutter spoon. Nothing on topwater, spinnerbait, or 10 inch worm. Beautiful day though it did get windy. Fished until half hour before dark. Guys at the big bridge, fishing from bank were catching lots of black bass as well. Lots of kayakers out today. Found out from game warden that you can't park on side of hwy bridge to load or unload kayak. Have to park and carry or use cart. He was nice about it... but I think I've been warned. roflmao

Damn! Lilly pads, stumps for miles, bridges. This place looks like a great place to fish. I might have to make a trip!

Caught 4 over 8lbs one day fishing with Tom Hanson, who used to post on here, when I first started fishing the lake regularly, 8 years ago. Favorite lake to fish as I used to come down every Christmas from Florida and fish it a couple of days with my old fishing buddy from grade school days that fished it all the time. When the plant was running it was as good as it gets.

Lots of good memories and hoping to make more.

I remember watching local fishin’ shows in Dallas back in the 70’s. I loved it when they would bass fish in the winter with the steam coming off Monticello. Always wanted to go see that, but alas I’m too late, no more power plant.
