Hobie seat bag?

Hobie seat bag? - 01/07/21 12:35 AM

Anyone try the Hobie bag for a PA14 seat? I've also seen a newer bag by Perception that is a cooler. You can keep drinks and lunch in the perception bag and use your larger cooler just for fish if you keep your catch.

Which do you prefer?

Both look nice, but I’d make a DIY version for fun.

I didn't even know they existed. Thanks for the link. thumb

I had a Hobie seat bag and gave it away. For me it was a PITA. The zipper is easy to open and close if you're holding it in your hand but put it on the back of a seat and for me it was a pain. I just ended up removing the center hatch storage bucket (both on the PA and the Revo 13) and using the hull as storage keeping my stuff in plastic kitchen storage containers. No more twisting around like a pretzel to get to something I need.

If the dimensions are correct, the Hobie bag is tiny, 8" x 8" x 3"! Too small to bother with. The Perception bag looks usable, sorta. Not for me, though. Islandjim

Where I'd start with a DIY version
Igloo Adventure backpack cooler + zip ties

With that said, I really try to minimize how often I'm turning and reaching around for something in the kayak.
It is not a good position to be in, especially in any wind/current/chop.

You might have something there. I was hoping to get a solid product with a turn key solution. I found out that the Hobie bag is actually made for the handlebars of their standup paddle board and that the Perception unit has terrible reviews for ripping at the seams. Quality sucks in my findings.

While I really didn't mind the $70 price point of the Perception bag, I'm not spending that much on junk that falls apart. Note: anyone see the prices on those yeti soft sided coolers? Psychotic prices.

So for $20 might be a great solution. Thanks

After doing some research, this one gets better reviews, has a slightly larger capacity and the unpopular red color is cheaper. Also available in blue, gray, and black
