Athens 12/29/20 - 12/30/20 04:05 AM

Had plans to fish Fairfield and was on my way when I pulled up thread about it in bass section and see that its closed for hunting season. No problem, always wanted to fish Richland Chambers. After seeing the white caps on the lake, I decided today wouldn't be the day and drove on over to Athens.

It was windy there too, a steady 18 mph but I had more places I could hide from wind. On the water around 1:00 and made the short paddle behind the bridge. Man that water is clear. Caught a few on spinner bait in the back of coves in 4 feet of water over grass. Had to slow roll it and let it get down in the grass or I wouldn't get bit. What a pain, was pulling grass off after every cast. Tried 5 and 3 inch swimbaits on underspin... not a tap. The finess spinnerbaits with colorado blades has worked so much better for me than willow blades this winter.

Stopped back at the bridge late and deep cranked for half an hour... nothing.

Really enjoy reading your reports and living vicariously through your fishing frequency
One day I aspire to fish as much as Lconn while maintaining the same passion and enjoyment
