I added the Lowrance Hook2 4x to my kayak. I rewired it with waterproof plug in wiring, a Cabela's sealed 12v 8 w battery (fits inside my center console), and a scupper hole transducer mount. If the weather holds out, I'm heading to Belton lake somewhere around the 36th street bridge area. I'm gonna collect some bluegills and or shad and live/cut bait for some catfish. I may not be out long since this'll just be a dry run on the toons and the fish finder That and I'll be smoking some spare ribs, corn on the cob, and huge russet potatoes later on the same day. I'd love to have some fresh bacon wrapped catfish to add to the smoker. But I digress this'll only be a kayak test LOL!!!

To be honest I was actually hoping to catch some fish on top of the tests, but alas that was not in the cards. I did however get to paddle approximately 3 1/2 miles. Not bad for a crippled up old man on his second kayak trip ever. The water was so clear I could see bass swimming at 35 feet deep. I have never seen Stillhouse clear and smooth like that. The fish finder worked very well. It helped that I could verify changes in depth, submerged objects, schools of baitfish and actual fish by just looking over the side of the yak. I honestly think this was one of the best birthday presents I have ever received. Also the Yak Gear pontoons worked pretty good as well. I adjusted them so they were just out of the water with me sitting down. I did this so the toons caused no drag whatsoever when paddling. But when the yak tilted right or left I immediately felt the extra stability they provided. But even with the toons out of the water their weight balances the kayak better than without them making the kayak feel more stable. kind of like two evenly sized kids on a teeter totter that's not moving or a tight rope walker's pole. Adding much more balance where there once was very little. Bottom line.... I think both items have improved my kayak very much. I'm happy with both the toons as well as the fish finder. I highly recommend both.

It was a great day to be on the lake.
