Re: Too much drama - 09/07/18 06:55 PM

I quit watching tv 4 years ago. It was all b.s. several months ago i quit fb for the same reasons. The amount of clicks and im with this brand and your with that brand all mixed in with a bunch of 2 year kayak fishing exp youtube channels just got too dang hectic. I wish kayak fishing would make a return to the 80's and people just do it because they love nature, the sport etc. I feel like im in high school again. For me it has ruined the spirit of kayak fishing. It has become gadget fishing and few kayaks even resemble a kayak anymore. Im glad im out of all that stupid [censored]. Im back doing what kayak fishing really is, spending the best times of my life with the ones i love the most doing the things i love the most the simplest way possible.

I don't even know how I got to that link. bang I was just minding my own business, reading some fishing related stuff, when someone in the conversation included a link. I'm a link sucker and clicked on it. roflmao Dang, right or wrong I've never seen anyone in the kayak world act like that. Guess that's what you get when you start adding power to kayaks. roflmao Might be watching the beginning of the end of a good run.

Are you talkin’ to me?

The pfd issue is good to make a stand. You dont watch pro football players play without pads so why would you want kayak anglers who compete in tourneys or are in the public eye to not wear a pfd. Its ridiculous to have a problem with that. Your statement is disrespectful to those who dont know. I hope you think a little more before you speak next time.

I think, in the internet days of old, we used to call this, "flaming?" Amazing how things have gone in regard to civil discourse, IN MY OPINION. Can't we all just "Rodney King?" (There's an old reference for you!)

I watched that whole thing and I have no idea why or what I learned from it. I think it cost me IQ points.

In all seriousness, I don't have a dog in this hunt. I guess I don't understand why everyone is complaining about jackplates on their powerboats in all these kayak forums. grin

One reason why I stay out of kayak communities....Too many rules!

His ego is too big. He even posted a video about how he was taking a step back after this one was posted bc of the flack he got. Hilarious lol

He probably sees himself as the "Ray Scott" of kayak fishing which would be a good comparison, and it comes with a lot of responsibility.
That responsibility he took onto himself, and in this day with social media you are going to be hit from all sides.
He wants his props and they are well deserved, but in his position if he wants to continue, he'll have to take the high road, and leave all the bickering and petty issues for others.

I've always enjoyed him sharing his experiences. He has some great beginner info on his YT channel and if you are willing to listen, he has many advanced techniques there, even if some are written between the lines or touched on briefly.

Like most things in life, there is more to the story. I wish him and his family well:

I watched part of that video a week or so ago.
If I wanted a boat with a motor on it I would have bought one. smile

Edit: If I remember right isn't it about some other guy saying that the guy in the video, (or someone he is affiliated with), copied his design for a motor mount that fits on a kayak?
