Fork 5/21/18

Fork 5/21/18 - 05/22/18 07:07 AM

Got a late start, but 11 a.m. on the water beats not being on the water every time. Launched at Hideaway Harbor and started paddling towards the golf course. Never found what I was looking for (thick grass) and I guess that's why I didn't do so well today. Caught one cat and 6 bass, largest was almost 18 inches, had one dink, and the rest, 14 to 16 inches. Every fish caught on fluke today, got bit only once out deep throwing a flutter spoon, never got bit on a jig, nothing on hollow belly swimbait or topwater. Never got a sniff on a spinner bait either. Just like last week, I didn't catch anything the last hour before dark. bang

Didn't see any shad today and very little bait activity at all. Biggest bass I saw today was around 5 lbs, while I was launching as it slowly swam across the ramp to cruise the shoreline. bang

Caught the first couple of bass off docks, my least favorite place to fish. It got hot on the water today. I think I saw 87 degrees water temps. Still a fun day as all the birds and animals were out.

Back to Fork next Monday with a game plan. roflmao

Good luck finding anywhere I fish a dependable honey hole. Paddled over 7 miles yesterday to find 6 bass. roflmao

No, its a Fuji waterproof. Nothing special except that it can handle being slimmed, dropped and dunked on a regular basis. Works much better for me than camera phones when I have wet hands most of the time, plus cheaper to replace.

I got the drop on the deer. roflmao I was up against the bank hidden when I heard her coming. Just waited and she never saw me until I had taken about ten pictures from less than 40 yards. The hog was dumb as a rock. Saw it from about a quarter mile away and got to within 60 yards before it bolted. The eagle was a different story, it left its perch high in a pine from about 200 yards away. I didn't see it until it flew off and didn't get a picture but watched it land a half mile on up the lake. When I got to the area later on I was on the lookout and spotted it sitting way up high but had the sun behind me. Drifted on down further where it had to look directly into the sun to see me and was able to paddle within a 100 yards. About as close as they will intentionally let you get from what I've experienced with bald eagles.

Highly recommend anyone that wants to improve their pictures to open an account like Imgur and edit pictures before posting. Only takes a few seconds to edit when you get the hang of it.
