Replace Handles - 02/26/18 10:27 PM
I need to replace my handles on my kayak; they are dry and starting to rip. Is this an easy task and what type of sealant did I need?

It's a Tarpon Wilderness kayak!

No sealant is necessary.
The front handles (and maybe the side handles) are through bolted with stainless steel hardware and washers with neoprene/rubber attached to the back. The rear (and maybe side) handles are bolted with well nuts, again no sealant and no awkwardness with trying reach through a hatch to get the nut & washer back on.

I have replaced the bow, aft and side handles on my Manta Ray and it was exactly the same as Neumie described. Just check online for pricing of replacement handles, some of which work on a lot of different brands of kayak, and you should be able to tell if they will work on yours.

I replaced mine on my old WS Ride135 and I bought them at Academy.
They looked like the originals, I couldn't tell the difference.
