2021 Oviachic Mexico Trips

I wanted to share the dates of my Spring trips to lake Oviachic. We are making 3 trips and always have room for another team to follow us down to the lake.
- Arriving on Jan. 22, Friday. For 7 nights and leaving Friday Jan. 29. Two Cabins.
FILLED- Arriving on Feb. 19, Friday. For 7 nights and leaving Friday Feb. 26. Two Cabins.
- Arriving on March 19, Friday. For 7 nights and leaving March 26. Two Cabins.

You would be gone from work for 11 days as these are drive-in trips. It takes two days to get there and two days to get back. We fish for 6 days before returning.
Here is the Itinerary of how the trip goes.
- Reservations will be made in October to assure we get the cabins.
- I wire the money for each member of the trip to cover our rooms and meals at Oviachic, which is $500 each. This keeps us from carrying a lot of cash.
- All your paper work and fees for travel into Mexico can be done Online. I will help you with those links and walk you through the process.
- There will be three nights in motels along the way to Nogalas, AZ..
- Fuel pulling the boat will be another major expense.
- Truck snacks and one good meal each day while traveling is usually the way we go. Plenty of chances to get snacks at all the truck stops.
- We leave Fort Worth on Wednesday and drive to Van Horn to spend the night. Some teams opt. to drive the 16 hours straight to Nogalas.
- Thursday we drive to Nogalas to spend the night.
- Friday we cross the boarder at 6:00 AM. their time and drive 7 hours into Mexico to Lake Oviachic.
- We will have about 3 hours to fish when we arrive at Marina Del Rey.
- Evening meals are served in the Restaurant each night except Monday. I always carry Stakes and the fixings for the outside grill that night.
- We fish Six Days and leave the lake at 6:00 AM. the following Friday to head back to the boarder. We stop at the 20 mile check point and return papers.
- We are back across the boarder around 3:00 PM and drive to Los Cruses, NM. to spend the night.
- The drive on Saturday will put us back in Fort Worth.

What's the big bass caught over the last few years in your group?

A few fish over 10 lbs.

One of the January TEAMS just canceled. The Jan. trip is back open again for another team; as well as March.

You ask questions, he answers and then say he shouldn’t be posting here? Jeeez....

WoW. If it weren't for bad luck. One of the Jan. Team Boats was involved in a wreck. Completely totaled the rig. This team is out as the insurance company is dragging their feet. If you are interested in going in Jan. let me know. I need one other team to make this trip.

I have a TFF member that would like to go on this Jan. 20th trip. He does not have a boat at this time; but is an experienced fisherman and has the skills to make a good partner. UP DATE:
- Jan. trip was canceled due to the other team having a wreck with his rig before the trip.
- Now a new regulation is trying to be passed to quarantine 7 days after returning from a foreign country.
- Feb. 17 trip is on hold because all the guys going are taking vacation time and do not have an extra 7 days to stay at home.

Feb. trip will have to be canceled unless a team steps up that is retired or owns their own business.
Please give me a call if your team can go to provide another vehicle on the road.
I also have a good fisherman that can go with you and pay for over half the trip if you do not have a partner or would fish with 3 in your boat.

Feb. 17th Mexico Drive-In Trip Update:

My boat is open for 2 fisherman. Please contact ASAP.
- Just lost my partner for Feb. 17th. trip. His wife has to have surgery.
- We split the cost of the trip 3 ways. This runs about $1,000 each.
- We are gone for 11 days. 3 days to get there pulling the boat - 2 days to get home.
- This is 6 wonderful days of fishing. 100 Bass per day with 50 over 5 lbs. each day.
- We cross the boarder in Nogalas, AZ. on Friday and will be fishing by 3 PM for a few hours.
- Oviachic is 7.5 hours into Mexico. 4 lanes all the way to Obregon; then 25 miles out to the lake.
- I do all the purchasing for Breakfast, Boat Food and Water. We split the cost.
- We eat supper each night in the Restaurant except on Monday night and I cook stakes with bake potato and salad.
-You need a Passport and Mex. fishing license.
-I will Email you everything that you need to take on the trip from clothes, toiletries and fishing gear.

My boat is open for one fisherman on the March 17th. trip
- Same routine. All you need is your Passport then we stop at the 20 mile marker to get travel visas.

Doesn't look good. My partner dropped out; as his wife has to have surgery this month.
- Need to fill his place in my boat with one or two guys within the next 3 days; before I have to cancel all reservations for Feb. 17 trip.
- Still need that other team to take their rig and follow me; so we have two rigs on the road.
