Hill Country Bass - 03/08/21 01:36 PM
I had to work the last two weekends, so yesterday I got up at 3:30 and made the 2+ hour drive to a lake I though would be producing with the warming water temps. My car says it was 39 degrees when I got there around 6:30 and started blowing up my new inflatable kayak (my other is too small to fish from comfortably). It was a slow start, though I saw a few fish jumping with the sunrise. Finally around 8 or so I started catching and ended the day with 5 or 6 bass landed and missed two, one of them was in the 3-4 pound range. I also caught my first Guadalupe bass. It reminds me a bit of a tiger trout. It's very easy to see the difference live, maybe not as easy in pics but I knew instantly what it was. I saw several birds and deer and tracks, I assume this one is a racoon? The new boat did great and was better for roominess, firmness and getting in and out at the bank.
