Fayette 12/13/17 ** 23 bass - 12/14/17 02:27 AM
Well I got on the lake today. Started out slow but I found a few. I even found s decent top water bite, 12 on top water, 10 on plastic and 1 on a shallow crank. Plastic bite was in 10 to 15 FOW, crank bite in 4 FOW and the top water bite was in 1 to 3 FOW. Crazy day, it started out so slow but ended ok. Just getting out on the water today was worth the trip in itself. Boat ran just fine and I had on just enough clothing to stay nice and warm, but yet lose enough to cast easy. Fun Day.

Ramp is in good shape. When I stepped on it to crank boat up tight, I never felt a slip.

Yes there is some bait fish up shallow now. I watched some bass blow up on some small shad in about two foot of water. The shad were only like 3/4 to an inch long.

Fishytx, you are correct about being so slow in the morning. I went Monday, 11 Dec and got skunked in the morning but the temp was 38. It was not that cold when I left Houston. The ramps were not slick but the water lvl is low.

I don't know why this is but I have always had slow mornings. I know just a few good spots, but even those don't always pan out. Bastrop morning bite treat me better than this lake does. From 1 pm to dark is the best bite for me. Except in the spring time. April and May are two good months to get on some decent early morning bites. When I say decent, I'm talking quality fish, three to six pound fish and the numbers on these fish are good as well. Now there are a few guys that love the morning bite, but I would prefer to take my time and get there later in the day and enjoy catching a good number of fish in less time on the water.
