$100 Challenge to the person who... - 08/28/11 06:50 AM
I will pay $100 to the person (via paypal) who catches the big fish in the pond at Candlestick Park in Fort Worth off Hulen and French Lake st.
I think it's a catfish, possibly 55lbs?
I live near that pond, and saw it today two times. I want to see it caught, take a pic, and release it. If you send me a PM when you are going to fish it, I will meet you there. If you catch it, I will pay cash money to see it caught.
Any takers?

Actually, I was bass fishing, and starting to think there were not ANY fish in the pond... and WHAM. He surfaces, and swims around near the top so I could get a good look at him.
Going back tonight in a few to see if there are any bass in there at all, or if it's just cats.

55lbs? I saw the google map image of that pond and 55 is abnormally too large for a pond that size. Maybe 25-30 would be more accurate? What if we catch it and it weighs no where near the 55lb estimate? Will the $100 be pro rated?

Catfish Bubba sent me a PM,
There is one cat in that pond that is bigger than my full grown lab. I've seen it twice.
Maybe it is 30lbs, but whatever the weight, it's big.

Caught this bass out of there a couple months ago.. pretty decent size for that pond. Caught him out of the drainage pipe by the bridge, so there are bass in there, just not many I assume.

Wow, I was convinced there were ZERO bass. My energy has been restored now after seeing that pic. Now, I am going to start searching that pond for some bass, for real.

Walter was actually a trout if we are all talking about the movie "On Golden Pond".

You sure its a catfish and not a large carp or grass carp? Its normal to come across them in public ponds and they can get huge. Throw out some canned corn and put a few pieces on a small hook.

If the man can't tell the difference between a catfish and a carp on top of the water he needs to spend that $100 towards some prescription eyewear.
HAHA very true road trip! I know there are huge carp in there. friend of mine caught a 50lb buffalo out of there one night years ago.

Thats the one. Its called "french lake" used to be really good back in early 2000's they drained and dredged it probably 5 or so years ago though and it has never been the same since.

It's likely a grass carp (Amur) in that pond.

Man I use to swim and fish that lake all the time early early 80's. Was very productive on live grub worms and whole kernel corn.
Maybe I will give it a try when I go visit my mom.
I caught some good bass there. Best was around 3 lbs
