CWR Tournaments

How does everyone feel about them vs traditional ones? I have heard they are not achievable. But as technology changes I think its very feasible.

I agree with him on his last part on ceding ground to the tree huggers. I see it pretty frequently on reddit where guys climb all over one another for setting a fish on the ground for a pic, guys saying they wish they hadnt caught their pb because it bled, asking if we should petition our state governments for barbless hooks to be required, etc etc etc. I'm not for the intentional abuse of fish you arent going to eat, but seriously theres folks that are going off the deep end with it and they may gain traction. As for the format, I think combining some of the tech we have nowadays it could be feasible, and judges would not be a factor. Think of something like a police dash cam where when you weigh a fish, it shows the previous 5 minutes, whatever to ensure that the rules were followed. The scale could send the weight to a tourney director or whoever to review footage to verify that the fish was weighed properly.

Sitting at a tourney seeing the money spent on gear and boats and baits its hard to believe it wouldn't be hard to believe that we could purchase normalized scales and cameras and design some kind of app

We should go back to catch and cut tourneys and also 10 fish limits

just an opinion but truth be known,most of our lakes probably need fish taken out of them....tournament fishing has been going on now for almost 50 years and most of the lakes produce as many or more fish than they did years ago...

This will hurt a LOT of feelings but I would love to see more lakes go to slot limits. It would make more CWR tournaments but TPWD could create a way for regular tournaments to bypass the slot. That's exactly what BASS is doing in the aoy deal.

I would like to see irrefutable proof that a slot limit has helped any lake,anywhere...with catch and release so widely practiced,I submit to you that a slot or size limit has done nothing to help the fishing at any lake...I further submit that it has cost motels,restaurants,marinas and tackle shops large amounts of business by running off tournaments...

Fork. Although I see your points. Even with a slot people would still have to start keeping the small fish. If there is a way for tournaments to still do the regular 5 fish deals it won't hurt that stuff at all. Shouldn't hurt the catch and release fishermen either. I don't know of or if there is truly irrefutable proof, each lake could be effected differently. I think Fork proves that there is some benefit to it. It's such a small lake with all that pressure it could be fished out in a year without a slot.
