Lake Waco - 09/07/17 05:46 PM

Anyone been on the lake lately? Just wondering how it looked and fishing. Thinking about going Monday since I have a day off.

Re: Lake Waco - 09/07/17 07:14 PM

The lake is down, bass fishing has been slow. I was there yesterday and we put our hands on 5 bass and only one was a keeper. I fished it last Friday and had three drinks and one that weighted right at 6lb. I talked to some guys at the boat ramp and they said they did ok in the lower part of Lakeshrore cove area on shakyhead worms. He said the color but I not sure today.

Go into the creeks and flip the thickest laydowns and timber on the steepest banks. Had a few good fish doing this a couple weeks ago.

Fished there today for 4 hrs. 9 bites/landed 8 with 4 that were keepers. Fished shallow. 2 on crank bait, remainder on plastic (t-rigged speed craw and senko type worm. N. Bosque area was murky.

Had a tournament yesterday. 7 lbs won. Nobody had more than three fish. Caught quite a few small ones but keepers were hard to come by
Lake looks like it's getting ready to turn over. Lake has two 100 boat tournaments coming up two weeks in a row so that won't help

Re: Lake Waco - 09/08/17 01:19 PM

I went yesterday for 3 hours and got 4, 1 keeper.

Went Monday evening 2 hours before sunset and got 3, also all small.

In general it has been tough of late, but I am no off shore specialist like others might be.

The water looked good yesterday, temps were 79-80.

Went for a little while first thing this morning on the north end. Got 12 in fairly rapid succession all in 6 ft of water or less. Water looked really nice (2+ ft visibility, 79 degrees), just a tad of wind. Beautiful day to be out there. Evidently lots of folks agreed.

Not really. Only 31 limits out of 105 teams for tuffman

UGH. Hopefully these cool nights will turn it over soon and things will improve...

Anyone heard how Tradinghouse was faring?

Re: Lake Waco - 09/12/17 03:36 PM

I've had fairly decent luck on Waco lately. I haven't caught anything in shallow yet. Everything that I have caught was in the 10 to 15 foot range but nothing of great size. There was a kayak tourney on Tradinghouse last weekend, there were not a lot of fish caught but the ones caught were quality.

Thats surprising on tradinghouse it's usually quantity not quality

Way more of the latter than the former. More timber than you could fish in a lifetime in parts. Also, there are two marinas mid-lake with docks.

Has little bit of everything except submergent grass. Fishing still remains tough with only 16 pounds winning a 100 boat tournament

I went Wednesday and it was a dink fest and had some bigger white caps.

Does anyone know where I can find the coordinates for the sunken "crappie" condos? I cannot seem to find them. Thanks. Also has anyone fished these with success for largemouth?

Went today and it was really tough in the morning. Later in the day finally found a few fish. The lake is definitely in a funk though

Re: Lake Waco - 10/12/17 09:23 PM

Went Sun and got 15 LMB, most of them keepers but small keepers.

Went this morning and found a lively school of whites for a few mins, where I was catching them as fast as I could cast, reel in, and unhook. Got 10 in 12 casts, several quite nice, then it turned off.

Hopped around from spot to spot and ended up with 16: 10 whites, 6 blacks with the largest about 3 lbs.

Water was 73-75. Visibility 2-3 ft in most of the places where I caught 'em. Elsewhere it was like chocolate milk.

Re: Lake Waco - 10/21/17 05:57 PM

I had a decent time this week. I fished timber ALL DAY and nothing but as soon as I started to fish rocks, it was on! I ended up with a nice 5.54 lbs bass.

Re: Lake Waco - 10/21/17 06:31 PM

Went last week we had 25 up to 6.96 lbs. Best 5 were around 19lbs. Tx rig, crankbait & shakey head. I was doing and instructional trip. It was my my first time there in 15years. Ironically I've been blessed to fish all over the nation & my biggest bass is out of lake Waco.

Went a few days ago for 3 hours and caught 6 fish. It was ok not great. Caught a few on a crank on rock and a few late on a buzzbait in timber

I left the timber to fish the rocks.

I've never had much luck with fishing docks on this lake. I only seem to catch dinks. Maybe something I'm doing wrong?

Re: Lake Waco - 10/22/17 01:40 AM

There's a small window that i can catch some off docks

I went out with James on this trip. The man can flat out find the fish and catch the fish.

I learned a ton and look forward to hitting the water again with him! I highly recommend him.
