They are the exact same battery as Deka's that everyone rave about. Ive heard this before, but know it to be true when I went to Batteries Plus bulbs and we went to the back of the store to look for a third group 29 and they had the batteries, but couldnt put them out on the floor because they had Deka stickers on them by mistake instead of Duracell. So I have 2 that say Duracell and 1 that says Deka.

+1 Have had my 31AGM since February for a starting battery and it is a beast. Less than $200 out the door

Cool. I currently got dual purpose batteries from Autozone, both at about the same time about 2 years ago but trolling battery seems to take way too long to charge and trolling motor up on 3 or 4 just seems to be real slow, so I am guessing the battery is going bad...

Batteries plus is where I plan on going... We are getting to know each other real well.. I dropped my phone and cracked the screen on my phone twice crazy in about 2 weeks and they fixed it...

I'm interested in what size batteries do most of you guys use. It seems to me like I can't find many batteries to last (and I mean say strong all day long) for more than a year, year and a half. I keep them charged when I'm home and I take the boat out 2-3 times a week typically

Group 29 or 31

I have a group 31 AGM from Sam's Club that's about half a year old now for cranking. Seems to be doing fine so far. A lot of bang for the buck.

Any battery is only going to have a limited amount of "cycles" in it. (charge, discharge and recharge)
I had a gelcel group 31 that lasted 4yrs as my cranking battery, still worked when I sold my boat and is still being used by the guy that bought it.
Trolling batteries, I just plan that I'm going to have to replace them every 14-18 months. (I've tried every brand out there and they all seem to be around the same life cycle)

Re: Duracell Marine Batteries - 07/26/17 07:17 PM

I ran two of the group 31's on my trolling motor for almost 5 years and just replaced them with the same batteries from Sams a couple of months ago. Only reason I replaced them was because they were right at 5 years old. I have not tried one for a starting battery only for the TM, but I have never gotten more than 2 years out of a set of any other brand. I have noticed that the new ones for the first few uses took a little longer to charge, but after that they charge just as fast as the old ones did.

Re: Duracell Marine Batteries - 07/27/17 07:42 PM

just went to the Duracell from Sam's about 6 months ago.
no issues!!!
went from a 24 series 1000 cca to the 31 agm series.
older Triton and was a job making it fit!
with the new 12inch Lowrance, aerator pumps, etc running off the 24 series, after a couple hours it just didn't have the power to turn over the Optimax 225.
fished for several hours without cranking big engine with everything running and have no problem spinning the engine over now.
went thru 2 different batteries in the 24 so it wasn't a bad battery, just not enough guts!
went with the duracell on trolling motor and no issues yet either.
time will tell.
