East Texas Hat Trick

East Texas Hat Trick - 07/16/17 10:36 PM

Just completed what I call the East Texas Hat Trick. We fished Sam Rayburn Friday, caught roughly 14 lbs but did not figure them out until 11:00am. We had a trip booked with Dave Mansue on Toledo for Saturday, talked to Dave Friday and he asked if we could just go to Rayburn instead. I told him no because I am hard headed and wanted to prove we can wreck them on TB. He was right it was tough out there but we still managed to put 16 lbs in the boat. Then today we headed to Fork where my fishing partner caught his PB of 8.48 lbs. That completed our Hat Trick (3 most pressured lakes in East Texas in 3 days...... in the summer). But there is more... for the low price of $$$$$ when you order...... We are heading back to Rayburn for a day with Clark Rheem. What is your personal challenge / bucket list of Bass fishing that you have completed or want to complete?

I want to do a hat trick in Mexico. Fish for 3 months; Jan.- Feb.- and March. All on Lake Oviachic. There is a hospital close by that I can go to rest and recuperate.

Go to Venice Louisiana and get your arm broke by them big reds and there's plenty there. Wait till the Mississippi clears up a bit though. The hat trick is Reds, trout and flounder.

I think Toledo, Big Sam and Fork is a great hat trick. Would love to do it in a week in March and spend a couple days at each. cheers
Also for a small lake slam try the Wood County lakes, Quitman, Holbrook, Hawkins and Windsboro while fishing each a half day over the weekend.
Good luck too on the return trip to Rayburn!

Just go to the Sabine pass jetties in late September. You can catch all the reds your arms can handle.

It's actually hard to get away from them during most of September. Quite annoying honestly after you catch the first few. At least for me when I'm after trout. Your exhausted after 3 or 4 on a trout rod.

If your there when they start running you can catch some 30-40" bulls one after another. You have to catch it just right for that though. Guys regularly catch some 30"+ reds out there though. You just have to go thru all the hard heads and croker
