If you weren't "sight fishing" for her then it COUNTS!!! Fish make all sorts of swipes/twists/turns as they hit a bait and especially on a jigging spoon or deep diving crankbait they can get hooked all sorts of ways!!

Don't sweat it on Falcon. If you keep fishing that lake you soon will not even bother keeping track of fish of those weights. My last trip there my partner and I in 3 1/2 days had two 9 1/2-10's and three over 8 1/2's.

I'll bet that felt like a 10 pounder when she was fighting!
