Likely a Guadalupe. But telling them apart is not easy.

So what's the difference between the two?
After reading TWPD all I see that the black spots on Guads extend lower than that of the spots. Is there another way?

I have never caught or seen a Guad but that doesn't look anything like the spots in the lakes around here. Our spots have more markings and have horizontal black lines on the belly area.

Cool looking fish whatever it is.

Thanks for the responses. A local guide also is saying Guadalupe. I did not know that Stillhouse was blessed with these fish.

If I remember, I am thinking that a Guadalupe bass will have orange around the pupil of the eye

Spot. Spots will also get orange around the pupil in the spring. Some people call them red eyed Kentuckys. Did it have a tooth patch on the tongue?

There is a Red Eye Bass (Coosa) living in streams in Alabama and Georgia. It's a very pretty fish and popular for Native American aquariums.
