To the OP, I fished a tournament on Fork one day in early April where at blast off time it was about 15-20 mph. By noon is was blowing a steady 30-35 mph and gusting to over 50.
That's not a typo, FIFTY MPH at times. We stayed tucked back into a small "sheltered" cove but the run back up the lake was treacherous to say the least. I was a lot younger (and dumber) but we made it back to Lunker Lodge in time for weigh in. My partner had a 13.61 SAL in my livewell that day.
We knew a big cold front was coming but had no idea how bad the wind was supposed to get because we didn't even think to look at a forecast. This was before iPhones.
